The Garfield Heights Rifle Club was organized in 1881. The club's first meeting was held on November 6th at the home of John J. Sennett. The club joined the National Rifle Association in 1892 and began monthly meetings. In 1902, the club moved to a new clubhouse located on North High Street. In 1912, the club changed its name to the Garfield Heights rifle society and adopted a Constitution and bylaws. On May 1st, 1914, the society merged with the Akron Rifle and Pistol Club to form one organization. On July 1st of that year, another merger occurred when the Cleveland pistolclub merged with the Garfield Heights rifle society. The Garfield Heights rifle society continued its existence until it disbanded in 1917 due to World War I restrictions on firearms ownership
Garfield Heights is a small town in Summit County, Ohio. The population was 5,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Liberty metropolitan area. Garfield Heights is known for its Garfield Park and Garfield Elementary schools, as well as its small grocery store and post office. The town was laid out in 1836 by John A. Garfield and his brother James A. Garfield, both of whom were prominent citizens of Dayton. The name comes from a grant the brothers received from President Andrew Johnson for land in what is now Morrison Township (the current location of Akron). John A.'s grandson, James A.'s son-in-law, Garfield acquired additional grant land east of Dayton in 1881 which became the nucleus for today's community. Garfield Heights first grew rapidly due to trade with nearby Mentor and other towns on the Scioto River Valley; these goods being shipped downriver to Cleveland via Mud Creek Ferry. By 1860, there were 1 mile (1 km) of streets and 10 buildings in town – all but one being wooden homes or stores built by settlers who had migrated to the area during that period seeking fertile soil and new opportunities for development." In 1865, Garfields daughter Fannie married George Hennepin; they founded what would become one of America's most influential families through their businesses: Hennepin Meat Market (now Farmers' Markets International), Hennepin Furniture Company, Gouda Cheese Factory #2 (now occupied by JBS Foods) - all located within short driving distance of each other on busy streets such as Girard Avenue near Marshall Road/Highway 421/King Avenue near State Route 30/Northeast Extension Canal Path leading to Ohiopyle Lake - now home to North Union College - where George Hennepin Park now stands. In 1916, when hepassed away at 69 years old his son Harry Sr., took over ownership which would continue until Harry Jr.'s death in 1954 after serving as Chairman emeritus since 1944.. One reason why so many families enjoyed close proximity was that mail services were available right outside their doors! First established as a two-day service with horse drawn wagons delivering newspapers directly to residents’ homes during late summer months before becoming a continuous operation in 1875 under then Postmaster General Amos Kendall; it continued until 1973 when it was discontinued because automated delivery systems made it more convenient for residents not only to have newspapers delivered straight to their door but also scanned electronic copies shortly thereafter making it possible for residents living abroad or having no mailbox at all to receive daily newsletters electronically... Today however continuing morning deliveries are still made direct from USPS Headquarters facility adjacent parking lot off Butler Rd just northwest corner lot facing University Drive with plenty of drop boxes throughout town if desired

There are many restaurants and bars in town such as Pizzeria Majestic (ranked 3rd nationally), DiGiorno Pizza (ranked 5th nationally), Joe's Pizza #2 (ranked 6th nationally) and Buffalo Wild Wings (ranked 9th nationally). Restaurants that have been around since before Prohibition include Aunt Jemima's Pancake House which operated from 1905-2006 according to their website; Prohibition Hall - now defunct - housed both J&J's Liquor store Opened 1886 closed 1984 with memorabilia on display case including bar signs etc.; Donny & Marie's Italian Restaurant which opened on Euclid Ave., closed in 1978; Moe's Tavern which opened early 1800s still open today at 219 E Broad St.; Wabash Brewing Company - now nanobrewpubswineandcheese co LLC owned by pop singer Taylor Swift - located at 2 S Main Street next door to IHOP restaurant; Park Slope Brewery - located adjacent to Slope Recreation Area just east of where Highline Drive meets Grove Road; online reviews indicate that this brewery offers some excellent beers not generally available anywhere else
