Galion, Ohio is a town located in the central portion of Baldwin County and is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, Galion had a population of 34,567. The town was named for General George Washington who died in 1799 near Gallipolis, Pennsylvania. It was incorporated on February 14th, 1801. The name originated from an event that took place when General Washington and his army were moving through the area on their way to Fort Pitt in Pittsburgh. A small stream called the Cuyahoga River ran through the town and as General Washington's troops traveled down it, they encountered a group of Indians who objected to their general's presence in their midst so they began firing at him which caused him to run into a nearby woodlands where he surrendered his army and lived out his remaining days there before being buried at Uptown Cemetery. Galion has been filled with many famous people throughout its history including: baseball players Tony LaRussa and Phil Niekro; basketball players Jerry West and Julius Erving; singers Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra; actors James Garner, Bob Hope, William Shatner, Gene Kelly; author Eudora Welty; athletes Woody Hayes (baseball), Don Sutton (football), Curt Schilling (cycling) among others. Today Galion features some of the most popular shopping areas in Cleveland with outlets such as Sears & Roebuck along with smaller stores like Jiffy Lube and Lowe's both located within walking distance of each other making it easier for residents to get what they need without having to drive anywhere. In addition there are several restaurants serving up delicious cuisine such as ItalianRistorante Logan’s or GermanPfandhaus Topeka which offers interesting views overlooking downtown while still providing food that will satisfy even the most demanding palate.

Galion is a small town located in northwestern Lucas County, Ohio. It was founded in 1825 by the brothers Isaac and Jacob Galion and their wives, Esther and Sarah. The first post office was established in 1827. The community grew rapidly during the days of railroad development in the area. In 1847, Galion became the county seat of Lucas County. The population of Galion reached 1,000 by 1865. By 1870, however, census figures show that only 290 people lived in town.The decline of agriculture and heavy industry in Toledo during the 1920s caused a decline in population at Galion as well; by 1930 only 100 people still lived there. However, over time new businesses have beenestablished here including a convenience store, a pizzeria and an auto parts store before becoming full-time businesses since the early 2000s. Today,Galion is home to a Junior High School (grades 7-12),[1] three churches ( Methodist Episcopal [2], Lutheran [3], Presbyterian [4]), two schools (Ohio State Normal School for Girls [5])and one business.[6] In 1898-99 William McKinley served as president of Ohio; he helped promote agricultural exports from Ohio to help finance America's World War I effort. This increased production at nearby mills which created jobs for locals as well as exporters such as those from Galion who were responsible for marketing their products throughout North America on trains traveling through his hometown en route to destinations like Montreal or Buffalo Niagara Falls Hockey games were also popular events taking place at various points around town with many people getting involved including street Racing Teams would travel all across town race each other down narrow streets trying to beat each other out of prizes while being cheered by onlookers attending these events could be quite entertaining some even enjoyed it while others found it dangerous because they didn't know what was happening around them Additionally one building still standing today that once housed the old post office has been used as Artspace Gallery which hosts local art shows twice monthly
