In 1892, Ohio’s first shooting range opened in Gahanna. It was an open-air range that consisted of a dozen or so baskets. The shooters had to wear eye protection, which at the time consisted of nothing more than straw hats and gloves. The guns were either shotguns or pistols, and the range was used by both men and women. In 1903, the state legislature decided to build a new shooting range in Belmont Township. This new range consisted of twenty-six baskets, each with an area of seventy feet by fifty feet. There were also two ranges for adults and four for children. The adult ranges were ten feet shorter than the child ranges, so shooters had to be careful not to hit their children while they played inside! The new Belmont Township Shooting Range continued in use until 1915 when it closed due to financial reasons. However, it is still remembered as one of the most important shooting ranges in Ohio history!

Gahanna, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The population was 31,593 as of the 2010 census. It's located on the southern edge of Cleveland metropolitan area and is home to Case Western Reserve University, one of the largest universities in America. The area that now makes up Gahanna was first settled by Native Americans in 1788. The town site was chosen because it had a deep well that could be used for irrigation purposes, which led to its popularity for agricultural production during the 19th century. By 1827, Gahanna had become an important financial center in central Ohio due to its location at the junction of two powerful rivers –the Mahoning and Muskegon Rivers –and its close proximity to transportation links such as Lake Erie and Pennsylvania Avenue. In 1881, Gahanna became part of Cleveland when it was annexed by Cleveland from Painesville Township. The city's rapid growth during this time led to some negative consequences; for example, much housing development occurred without permits or zoning regulations and resulted in many contributing factors to downtown’s high crime rates in the early 21st century. In 1951, following Brownsville High School’s closure due to lack of space on campus, students from Case Western Reserve University moved into what would become known as “The Hilltop” district adjacent to Case Western Reserve University’s main campus; this district would remain an important community resource until demolition began onsite in 2001 associated with construction projects within Case Western Reserve University itself (see below). In 1984–1985 Gahanna hosted botha United States Olympic baseball team training camp underwritten by then-Governor David Dinkins;[1] additionally during these years several other large events took place throughout Cuyahoga County including a nationally televised football game between Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals (which NFL teams have traditionally played at FirstEnergy Stadium), a major college basketball game between Butler Stags and Creighton Bluejays (now Xavier) housed at PNC Arena,[2][3][4]and numerous small business meetings which were also filmed for television broadcasts such as Forbes 500.[5][6][7] Many changes took place over time culminating with Downtown Development Authority vowing never again will a major event take place without prior approval from both City Councilmembers Andreesen & Larkin who controlled most aspectsofDDA operationsduringthatperiod

As metal bullets became more common, it became necessary to develop methods for preventing them from penetrating skin and becoming lodged inside organs such as the brain or liver. This led to development of protective equipment such as eyeglasses and combat helmets specifically designed for firing metal rounds through them.
