The first gun lights were used in 1892 by the Gahanna Rifle Association to help shoot practice over the town's open field. The association soon became interested in using them for target shooting, and began manufacturing their own guns with lighted sights. By 1899, the rifle association had become a member of the American Rifleman Magazine Company, which began marketing gunlights as a safety feature for hunting rifles. In 1902, two versions of the lighted rifle were designed: one with an orange light that could be seen only when aimed at a target, and another with a green light that could be seen both while aiming and while firing. In 1903, more than twenty-five companies produced gunlights; these included such well-known manufacturers as Remington Arms and Winchester Repeater Arms.Gunlights continued to be produced until 1970, when they were replaced by lasers as the primary firearms sighting method. Gahanna, Ohio is a city in the Greater Cincinnati area of Ohio. The population was 61,691 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat for Hamilton County. It is located on the Scioto River and includes Gahanna Township, which covers most of the east side of the river. Gahanna was founded by George Washington Carver in 1881 as a small town onancock Creek near present-day downtown Cincinnati. Gahanna became an industrial center during its early years, with textile mills and other businesses coming to town from nearby Kentucky and Virginia. By the mid-20th century, however, manufacturing had all but disappeared and Gahanna's economy focused largely on agricultural production and research institutions such as Purdue Universityuntil it experienced another boom in recent decades due to growth in technology startups and new companies such as Wernher von Braun's company SpaceX The current incarnation of Gahanna began to form around 1920 when John Denny established a pottery business along Hancock Creek in what is now part of downtown Gahanna. Denny soon found success with his products - including some that are still made today - and his business grew until he built one of Ohio's first shopping malls, McLean Gardens Shopping Center (now known as Macy's), in 1930. Other major developers during this time include Harry Chandler (1937–2008) who developed Ziegler Park into one of Ohio's largest urban gardens; Jerald Webb (1930–2009), who led construction on several stadiums associated with college sports teams; Frank Whitehead (1927–2007), co-founder of white noise manufacturer Acoustic Home Theater Systems; Jay Dunn (bomber pilot) who helped develop military aviation in Ohio; and David Laddner (owner/operator/builder/developer/restaurant operator Bob Evans pizza chain).

Gahanna, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Summit County. The population was 27,363 at the 2010 census, making it the 10th-most populous city in Summit County. Gahanna is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati metropolitan area. It is located on the Scioto River and has a total area of 26 square miles (72 km²). The first known permanent settler in what became Gahanna was Nicholas Perrine, who arrived in 1795 along with his family from New Hampshire. In 1802 he founded what would become Gahanna Township, one of six townships that formed Summit County. The township's boundaries were expanded to include present-day Butler and Perry counties as well as parts of Delaware and Muskingum Counties before becoming an independent town on July 1, 1824. On April 9, 1830 Zephyr Teachout purchased 8 acres (3 ha) adjacent to what would later be called Main Street from John Cooks for $5 per acre ($2/ha). He named his new settlement "Teachoutville" after himself and planted corn there until 1834 when he sold all but 5 acres (2 ha) to Moses Hogg for $25 per acre ($12/ha). On March 14, 1840 George Wertz bought 3 rods (27 feet 3 inches [8 m]), extending from Main Street eastward past present day Randolph Avenue to intersect Academy Road (now Lyndhurst Avenue), for $15 per rod ($10/ft²). On January 12, 1847 Samuel Weiser organized a gristmill on current Day Academy Road; this mill continued producing flour until 1949 when it converted to a diesel engine power plant. During World War II Gahanna produced munitions including war bonds and artillery shells which were gathered by local resident Elmer Green during V-E Day ceremonies at Cleveland Bay Naval Base on September 2, 1945; these materials were then shipped back to Navy Yard in Annapolis MD where they were assembled into warships such as USS Constitution (1797) and USS Enterprise (1855). In 1948 Gahanna voters ratified a sales tax increase which raised $1 million annually toward public education since that time; also enacted during this time was an ordinance establishing emergency services within unincorporated areas surrounding the city limits should any emergency occur outside of those areas for 24 hours without notice or priorwarning; this provision effectively served as precursor to today's SWAT team capabilities within certain urban precincts throughout Greater Cincinnati region In 1951 Gahannians approved passage of an ordinance authorizing incorporation into a regional school district serving all residents within its borders regardless of income level or educational attainment levels; this act provided additional resources for educating children residing within district boundaries On December 4, 1957 incumbent Mayor Prentice Denny announced his candidacy for president of United States due to dissatisfaction with government performance at home which had led him to question whether government could provide good quality life opportunities while still giving citizens their voice Denny won election against Republican challenger Art Hogan by almost 100% margin
In the year 1840, Gahanna was founded by James Caldwell and his wife Ann. The city was named after George Washington's home in Virginia, Mount Vernon. The first post office opened in Gahanna on July 1, 1841. In 1846, Gahanna became a part of the new United States of America.
