The Fremont Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in 1892. It became the Rifle and Pistol Association of Ohio in 1907. In 1911, the association changed its name to the Fremont Shooting Club. The club adopted a resolution to Join The International Amateur Shooting Union in 1912, but did not actually do so until 1913. In 1916, the club voted to establish a rifle team for Team Ohio United States Olympic Committee at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. The rifle team won the gold medal that year. In 1928, members of the Fremont Shooting Club organized a “Military Rifle Championship” at which they competing against each other using rifles from different countries. This event is considered to be one of the first international competitions where shooters from aroundthe world could come together and compete under one banner. In 1933, members of the Fremont Shooting Club established an indoor pistol range which still operates today as called The Gun Range at 8th Street and Winchester Road in Fremont Township (now part of Oakland). Polk over Jackson four years later. After serving two terms as governor of Illinois (1873–77), Grant moved back eastward into Ohio where he died on December 6, 1885 at age 72 after a long political career including service as Chief Justice of Minnesota (1868–72).
