Fostoria is a town in the Miami-Ohio Valley region of northeastern Ohio, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The word "Fostoria" comes from an Iroquois word meaning both "a place where goods are stored" and "a store for goods." It was first settled by English colonists in 1788 and named after Fayette County in Pennsylvania. A post office called Fostoria was established in 1812, and remained open until 1903. In 1814, General Anthony Wayne's army invaded Canada during the War of 1812 and burned most of Toronto before retreating to Ohio. General James Winchester took over command of the United States Army west of the Allegheny Mountains and laid siege to Fort Dearborn on July 12, 1814. The British withdrew on July 15 after two days' bombardment with HMS Guerriere and USS Constitution gunships. Fostoria became a part of Uniontown Township when that township was created out of parts of Butler, Warren, Rossiter and Washington townships in 1865. In 1902 it became one of ten townships statewide created as a result of the Toledo Partition Act; it remains an unincorporated community today. The town has grown rapidly since then: its population increased from 3,171 in 2000 to 9,521 at the 2010 census; its median household income is $60,563 (the lowest among all U.S. communities with 10 or more residents).

Fostoria, Ohio is a city in the United States. The population was 7,621 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fayette County. The town was platted in 1836 by George Stephenson and named for his father-in-law, Lorenzo Fostoria. In 1892, Fostoria became one of twenty-six towns to become part of Cleveland during the consolidation of Ohio into the United States. The first permanent settler in what would become Fostoria was Lorenzo Fostoria, who arrived in 1836 from Sicily with his family and land grant from President Andrew Jackson. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it "Fosta." A post office was established at "Fosta" in 1838, and remained in operation until 1865. In 1892, Cleveland annexed portions of Warren County including much of what is now Fostoria. As a result, FOSTORIA became one of twenty-six towns consolidated into Cleveland during this period (along with Akron, Canton Township, Elyria Township, Euclid Township, Gahanna Township etc.). At that time its population was just over 2200 residents; today it has grown to more than 7000 residents! With so many new residents came new businesses and services - such as an indoor pool - which continue to make a big impact on the community today. During World War II when production skyrocketed due to rationing efforts by the military authorities aluminum cans were very valuable because their manufacturing process could not be converted to other materials easily enough for war use; so each can yielded about $0.50 worth of aluminum per can produced once they were printed! Consequently aluminum cans continued becoming valuable long after war ended though their production ceased completely around 1949 or 1950!!!
Fostoria was a small town in eastern Ohio, United States, until the late 19th century. Fostoria was located on the lower Scioto River and developed around two cottonwood trees that were used for mills and other purposes. The first mills in Fostoria were built by John Denton in 1820. In 1836, Jameson & Company began manufacturing flour from wheat grown in the area. Cotton became an important crop in Fostoria during this time and milling continued to be a major industry until after World War II.
