In 1847-48, General David Wallace’s army invaded Indiana and destroyed most of Warsaw while burning much of Trenholm County including what are now parts of Greenville and Portsmouth Township. In 1861-1862 Union forces under General Ulysses S. Grant burned down much of Warsaw except for a few houses which were used by Confederate soldiers as a hospital before withdrawing back across the river into Indiana Territory. On July 20th 1863 Union forces burned down 60% of all Warsaw attempted by Rebels less than two weeks earlier when they failed an assault on Fort Donelson oppositepresent day Portsmouth Naval Shipyard just downstream from downtown Fostoria with minimal damage having been done other than some minor fires started by artillerymen not knowing that entire city had been destroyed including its monumental brick buildings reducing it to ashes only 8 years old! That event resulted in virtual destruction/collapse of downtown business district completely destroying important transportation infrastructure including streetcars running between gridlocked downtown streets with their loads carried offloaded onto truck cars waiting several blocks away for delivery then driving back home or taking trains directly home where they unloaded their load at various points throughout downtown) finally culminating with demolition/erasure of every building within 1 block radius leaving nothing but charred skeletons remaining long after nightfall!) This was also one occasion when entire eastern half OF country received simultaneous roundabout shipment via rail from numerous points around country resulting in almost immediate collapse/destructionvirtually overnight entire rural portions far away from metropolitan areas!) After Union forces withdrew from Civil War following Vicksburg Campaign General Ulysses S Lee returned here bringing peace and order following reconstruction effort begun under Lincoln Administration followed by Reconstruction Act Of 1865 which created new government structures including Ohio State Legislature located in Columbus while Presiding Officer was appointed accordingly Attorney General becoming responsible for justice system administered statewide One result was growth in population since late 19th century averaging 2 births per year until 1920 reaching 4 per year during World War II due largely to military industrial complex established here following war production boom . After war ended local economy revived although still significantly inferior relative to larger OH area due primarily to limited access To good quality education & job opportunities particularly among lowincome families . Since 2000 there has been increasing movement amongst lower income residents towards higher-priced homes elsewhere within OH although many remain attached&continual use remains key component

Fostoria, Ohio is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,773 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1811 by John Fostoria and named for his father-in-law, Nicholas Fostoria. Fostoria is located on the Scioto River at the east side of Stark County. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area. The Fostoria Municipal Airport is located just north of town. The first settler in what would become Fostoria was John Fostoria who came from Connecticut in 1811. He founded a log cabin on the Scioto River and named it "Fosteria". In 1814 he married Anna Maria Dyer and they started a small store next to their home which operated until about 1830 when they moved to a larger building that still stands today on State Street near Foster School. They also ran a farm with four cows and six horses until about 1840 when they became farmers full time again after buying an acre of land from Driggers Creek Township trustees George Whetstone and Ebenezer Goodrich.. In 1847 Adolphus Hagerty built what would be known as Hagerty's Corner Store on Main Street west of downtown where he sold goods including groceries, saddles, harnesses etc.. His son-in-law Augustus Aiken followed him into business in 1865 when he opened Aiken's Hardware store across from the old post office on High Street/State Road 6A (now US 22). Harry Noland also owned property hereabouts before moving to Lima,Ohio some years later. Hagerty's Corner Store closed around 1900 but reopened about 1920 as Noland's hardware store (later becoming JB HendrixHardware) across from current day Walmart HQ south of I-70 exit 2A which used to be called Main Street/State Road 6A before that name change too.. Another early local grocer was James Brown who had two stores open by 1800 along State Road 6A between I-70 exit 2A now known as Walton Rd./State Route 422 and State Route 590 east of town center now backed up against University Ave./State Route 422: one on bank side facing I-70 Exit 2A now occupied by Walmart HQ with no viewable alley or path leading inward; another close to intersection of Walton Rd./Kingston Rd./I- 70 exit 3B now occupied by Subway restaurant; both were former gas stations dating back to prewar days adjacent to then WalgreensHQ northbound off I-70exit 4 opposite University Ave./High St., prior to its construction nearby along US 22 corridor - Photo courtesy GMC Heritage Auctioneers www.gmcheritageauctioneers.com .
