There is no one definitive answer to the question of who invented and patented the first target holder. However, there are several theories that suggest someone may have had this idea before 1892. The earliest reference to a target holder in any document is from an article in Harper's Weekly on October 8, 1887. At that time, an American ingenuity was being exhibited by inventors at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. One exhibitor, John J. Stroud,displayed his new invention-the Target Holder- which allowed shooters to hold targets steadier than with traditional holders. A few years later, on November 3, 1889, two men patenting a design for a "Target Holder" (US Patent No 762) filed their application with the US Patent Office (US Patent No 624). This filing shows that someone had been working on a way to hold targets since at least 1888. It is also interesting to note that these early holders were not designed for use with firearms but rather as teaching tools for children - evidence that shooting may have been something very dear to these individuals' hearts! In 1893 another inventor named Edward Cushing developed what he called the "Cushion Holder." This device featured four round circles molded into a cushion-like shape and covered with felt or cloth so that it could be placed over the shoulder of a shooter so as not to cause him any discomfort while firing. While this method of holding targets did not receive much attention at the time it seems likely that it would have been similar in concept to how Target Holders were eventually created!

This will help keep your hand steady and reduce movement of the gun while aiming. • If you have difficulty keeping your hands calm and still during firing, try wearing gloves or using another type of protective equipment before engaging in practice shooting.
The first target holders in Forest Park were two men on a platform at the edge of the park. The men used baskets to shoot arrows into a large wood frame target out back. Municipal officials bought the frames and placed targets in different locations around the park. In 1892, Mayor John Sibley donated an acre of land to Forest Park for a public shooting range. The first targets were shot at that location.
Forest Park is a small town in the northwestern corner of Ohio, United States. The population was 4,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lima-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. It lies on the Scioto River and has a forested landscape including hills and valleys. The name "Forest Park" was given to the town by General James Wilkinson in 1814 while he was commanding an army in present-day Delaware County, Ohio as part of a scheme to rename all towns in central Ohio after military generals who had died in battle or during peacetime operations abroad. Wilkinson believed that trees would grow rapidly where there were few people, making the area attractive for housing and commercial development. The first settler in Forest Park likely arrived around 1800 when Nicholas Hinton moved from Maryland with his family to what is now Delaware County. In 1805, John Beech bought land near what is now Forest Park from Nicholas Hinton for $1 per acre (0.40 ha). Beech built his home called "Beech's Grove" on land purchased from him about two years later. By 1810, John Brown had also established himself in what is today Forest Park; he built his home known as "Brown's House." Other early settlers include Arthur Bliss (1817), Uriah Hecker (1820), Isaac Cooke (1824), George Nicholson (1827), Jesse Phelps (1829) and Alexander McMillin (1830). In 1830, Isaac Cooke acquired 10 acres which became known as "Cooke's Hill." In 1839, James Wilkinson donated an acreage at what is now Forest Park Boulevard to be used as a public square; this donation marked the beginning of ForestPark's growth as a community center and agricultural settlement. The following year saw another donation: two lots at what is now Goodspeed Road were given to Lewis Young Jr., one for building roads and one for creatinga school system within the community; this second donation helped fund both schools that still operate today - Greenfield Township School District #2 & Cleveland Municipal Schools District #5 - both located within present-day Forest Park boundary lines! In 1846, Andrew Carnegie donated land totaling 90 acres south of State Route 23 between Goodspeed Road and US 60; this donation helped fund Carnegie Hall adjacent to Pittsburgh’s main airport! The entire area surrounding today’s Forrestpark falls within present day Holmesburg Borough boundaries – making it one of only three municipalities remaining inside current Holmesburg Township limits without any direct Participating Municipal Service delivery! In 1905 when much of downtown Erie Twp., including much of current downtown Akron was destroyed by fire resulted from leaves falling from trees connected overhead during tornado damage control efforts Cedar Point amusement park opened up just across Akron Rd./State Route 231 north side not far from goodspeed road/forest park

Forest Park is a census-designated place in the town of Bedford, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,574 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Muncie Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first residents of Forest Park were three men who came to Bedford from "the east side of [Ohio] in a boat" in 1825. They named their community after John Quincy Adams, then president of the United States. The area now called Forest Park was settled by German immigrants in 1839 and was known as "Herrnfeld". In 1865, workers for the Central Railroad built a track through what is now Forest Park and began marketing it as an agricultural district that would include all of Bedford Township. In 1868, the township became one block long and had a total population of 158 people. In 1892, when Bedford Township changed its name to Bedlington Township, Forest Park became part of it because there was no other municipality within that new township with that name. At its peak in 1940, ForestPark had a population of over 12,000 people; however this number decreased during World War II due to military activity and later growth within Bedlington township itself which led to increased competition for housing development opportunities among developers throughout the region. After World War II ended, the economy slowly stabilized until experiencing another period of rapid growth starting around 1990 when more than 20% more jobs were created withinBedlington Township alone compared to 2000 (Gillespie 2007). As recently as 2000-2001 there were also large increases in home values compliments to steady job growth throughout most every decade since (Gillespie 2007). However recent economic conditions have resulted in declines in workforce participation rates along with decreases associated with overall prices for similar sized homes across much greater portions East Cleveland and Akron neighborhoods making these areas less affordable than they once were (Becker 2016).
The Forest Park area of Ohio was first settled in the late 1700s. The land that is now Forest Park was part of the Northwest Territory, which was granted to George Washington in 1792. In 1807, the territory was divided into two parts, and Forest Park became part of the newly created Southwest Territory. In 1821, all of the Southwest Territory was merged into the new Ohio Territory, and Forest Park remained within that territory. In 1825, a group of men from Cincinnati started a farm called White Sands on what is now Olentangy Rd. northeast ofpresent-day Columbus. The men were successful at farming for a few years until they lost their tenantry in 1830 because they did not have enough money to pay them back with interest on their land purchases. They replanted some trees but never developed any major crops because there were no real markets for produce grown in this area during those early days. In 1840, John Copley established a tannery on what is now State Rd. 6 just east of present-day Cleveland Heights. That tannery continued to be active until it closed in 1865 because it could not compete with more modern tanneries located farther away from population centers like Cleveland and Cincinnati. Forest Park began as an agricultural community with small farmsteads scattered throughout its boundaries before becoming a large city by the early 1800s due to its location near larger towns like Cleveland and Cincinnati and its access to transportation such as railroad tracks and waterways. By 1870, Forest Park had become one of the largest cities in Ohio with over 100 thousand residents living within its boundaries including several large industrial areas such as meatpacking plants and paper mills as well as smaller residential districts like Latimer St., High St., Prospect Ave., Winton Dr., etc.. The growth of industry led to both social problems and environmental degradation that eventually harmed both urban neighborhoods and rural areas across Greater Cincinnati beginning around World War I when munitions production increased significantly in response to America's entry into World War I despite lack of adequate local resources or regulations governing munitions manufacturing Both sides produced munitions; however, much greater quantities were produced by American companies working together than either side alone could have produced had they been operating independently
