Forest Park is a small town in the southwestern part of Ohio, United States. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1814 by Joshua Shaw and his family as Shaw's Grove, named for Joshua Shaw's grove of trees that still stands today on the east side of town. In 1868, Forest Park became an incorporated village and was renamed in honor of General James Halleck, who had served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the United States during Reconstruction. On November 1, 1907, Forest Park became a city and has been governed as such ever since. The first annexation request for Forest Park came from Athens Township on January 17, 1906. The second annexation request from Centerville Township followed on March 3, 1907 and both requests were approved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen on April 12th. On October 15th 1905 when Delaware County was created it annexed most of what is now Dayton with only a tiny portion including present-day Forest Park which lies within Scioto County borders until 1912 when it too became part of Delaware County when Scioto Countywas merged into Ohio Statehoodvisioned by Governor John Adams (1825-1902).

Forest Park is a small city in the U.S. state of Ohio and it is located in the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area. The population was 17,521 at the 2010 census. It was founded on October 1, 1892 by land speculation and development by businessmen who called themselves the Forest Park Company. The park covers an area of over 222 acres (8 km2) and has a population density of 337 people per square mile (148/km2). The Forest Park Company had been organized in 1881 as a business venture to purchase land east of downtown Cleveland for use as a public parkland for its citizens and employees. In 1892, the company's first president, Denton J. Gillett, donated 724 acres (269 ha) to Forest Park from his estate in Medina County; this included part of what is now Euclid Heights and most of Clairton Hill neighborhood on the southern edge of town. The donation created one-third of what would become Forest Park today. The first forest trees were planted in Forest Park in 1892; these were oak, hickory, maple, beech, sycamore, and cherry trees brought over from Hocking Hills Golf Course near Cincinnati by wagonloads during that year's Ohio State Fairgrounds dedication ceremonies led by Governor James K., Polk Jr.. By 1909 more than 5000 private Missouri-grown oaks had been transplanted to forested areas statewide following legislation passed by then–Governor John M., Harding II.). In 1916 Mayor John Fenton announced plans for construction on three blocks within present-day Museum Square – bounded northeasterly by Superior Avenue on one side and First Street on the other – which would include two movie theaters (the Knickerbocker Theatre across Superior Avenue from current day Second Baptist Church), twenty-one restaurants (eleven opened before World War II), twelve stores including four Sears Roebuck department stores (), as well as sixty feet (.25 m) high tennis courts sporting artificial turf (). When completed however all but one store closed within months due to low consumer demand for such expensive new entertainment center space inside an already congested downtown core with few if any spaces available elsewhere for businesses or residences.�
