The Forest Park, Ohio area was first settled by the Cuyahoga and Erie tribes in the 17th century. In 1813, Ohio was admitted to the United States as a territory. The town of Forest Park was founded in 1836 by John D. Rockefeller and others as part of what would become Cleveland. The town was named after the forest near where it was located. In 1868, a sawmill on the Scioto River began production, which led to development around the mill site. By 1903, Forest Park had a population of 25 people and an economy that included lumbering, farming, manufacturing and retail trade. The mill closed in 1906 but left behind a legacy of industry that persists to this day.
Forest Park is a small community in Medina County, Ohio, United States. It is located on the east side of the Grand River, about southwest of Marysville and northwest of Akron. The population was 1,692 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Forest Park was John Caldwell in 1811. A post office called Caldwell was established in 1827, and remained in operation until 1836. The town charter was granted on July 15, 1830, by Governor George Fenton to Nathaniel Eaton and James Prentice. The name "Forest Park" originated with a grant from President James Kenedy to Calvin Booth for 640 acres (2 km²). In 1839, a group of Methodist ministers founded Cedar Hill Church there. In 1865–1866, the Ohio Railroad built a line from Akron to Marysville; this made Forest Park an important stop for goods coming up the grand river. When the railroad was converted into a streetcar system in 1903–1904, Forest Park became one of its stations. In 1916–1917, during World War I as part of an effort to keep military supplies out of Germany and Austria-Hungary,[1] Forest Park residents collected over 5 tons (6 metric tons) of food that had gone uneaten at local stores.[2] The city's first grocery store opened in 1924; it continued operation until 1980. The last grocery store closed down around 1990 when larger stores moved into the area making it difficult for smaller businesses to survive against competition from large chains like Safeway and Kroger which had taken over much of what used to be downtown core businesses like restaurants and grocers since 1980 when county government merged with village governments statewide giving all municipalities more power to regulate business activity within their borders along withthe right to build roads and set zoning regulations as well as create their own police department etcetera which has caused many small businesses such as Lighthouse Pizza & Pasta LLC., which has been operating since 1978 inside old Sheetz Hardware building on West Cedar Street closure because they could not compete with big box stores like Kroger or Safeway taking over what used once been downtown cores now annexed by Village Governments Nationwide

Forest Park is a village in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the border of Butler and Warren counties. The population was 5,352 at the 2010 census. Forest Park was incorporated as a village in 1892, and became a town in 1903. It was renamed ForestPark in 1937 after the nearby Cleveland National Forest. In 1960, it became an independent city. The Village of Forest Park was organized on December 17, 1892 from parts of Butler Township (now Warren County) and part of Scioto Township (now Muskingum County). At first, it consisted only of a few homesteads and small parcels of land east and west of Main Street where present-day United States Route 11 crosses the park's eastern boundary. Two years later, on January 6, 1894, John Hickey donated 4 acres (1 km²) northwest of Main Street for use as a public square; this site served as both Village Hall until 1912 when installation of City Hall began on higher ground to the south with room for future expansion to the northward across First Avenue which bisected US 11 at its western edge then divided US 11 by Elm Drive between Beechwood Road to the south and Broadway Drive to the north while main street continued along Elm Drive east-west within bounds established by David Ladd who had also donated some property near present day I streets NW/NE corner N/W corner Streets NE & SW corner Streets W & E). Forest Park grew rapidly due largely to donations from prominent citizens such as Mr. Hickey who saw value in creating an open space for community use adjoining his home estate including additional land now used for parking spaces adjacent to City Hall which still stands today just beyond what is now called "Old Town Square". With no need for public square space because development took place primarily along First Avenue side streets all larger lots were offered up including . . . sections now occupied by Old Town Square Cemetery Extension behind City Hall Annex - one block long! In 1912 entrepreneur Charles Gould donated 12 tracts extending northeasterly from current I streets NW/NE corner N/W corner Streets NE & SW corner Streets W & E forming what would become known as Gould Heights - again without any public square! This donation included over 1 mile (.6 km²) frontage on both banks bedecked with trees – truly forested lands that would soon be home to many families! In 1934 James Kapp purchased 3 blocks southwest from current I streets NW/NE corner N/W corner Streets NE &SW corners W & E forming what would become known as Kapp Hill - another successful donation by this same individual followed by others like Harry Pemberton who made two more contributions totaling 10 blocks making up Central Square area today bounded diametrically by High School Rd., Second Ave., SE Corner St., NW Corner Sqr.,Trinity Church Rd./SE Corner St.,NW Corner Dr./SE Corner Circles etc.. These gentlemen not only contributed Land but Money too many continue making Contributions year after year until finally we have our present day CommunityCenter !! Thank you For Your Time And Memory
Forest Park was founded on the peninsula now known as Ohio State University in 1824 by George Washington and his family. The original forest was about 2,000 acres (8 km2). In 1829, the university became a national land grant institution, and Forest Park was designated an academic center for the area. In 1911, the city of Columbus annexed what is now Forest Park. The annexation created a new municipal government which gave Forest Park its own police department and fire Department. A Chicago-based company donated land to the city for parkland in 1930. This gift has been extended annually to date and forms part of the university's main campus. In 1954, a large addition to Forest Park was built with money raised by selling parking tickets at various locations within the park. This event became known as "The Great Parking Scavenger Hunt." The hunt continued until 1987 when it was discontinued because of budget constraints.
