The history of firearms in Forest Park, Ohio can be traced back to 1827 when a man named John D. Mason founded the village of Forest Park on the Scioto River. In 1839, Mason and his brother-in-law, James Wellman, began manufacturing a rifle called the "Wellman Rifle." The Wellman Rifle was successful and became known as the standard for hunting in Ohio. In 1871, George H. Browne established the first store in Forest Park and started selling firearms. From these beginnings until 1959, gun sales were handled by Mr. Browne himself. He was well respected within the community for his honesty and integrity with his customers. In 1959, Mr. Browne's son-in-law+, Clifford Aumanthrope took over management of the store from him. Under Clifford's guidance, sales increased rapidly and soon enough he had built up a large inventory of firearms which he sold through his own family dealership+owned business at 2607 Euclid Avenue in Forest Park+. Clifford Aumanthrope passed away in 1984 but left behind an ever growing collection of firearms that are now displayed at The Armory on Clemens Drive in Forest Park+. His legacy is continued today as one of the largest collector's collections of pistols and rifles in America++

Forest Park is a census-designated place in the Canadian province of Ontario. The community was founded by Ohio pioneers in 1836 as a small hunting and trapping post on the border of York and Ottawa counties. By 1850, Forest Park had become an important agricultural center with over 120 farming families. In 1881, it became a municipality, and by 1916 had reached its present size of almost 4 square miles. The population peaked at 27,000 in 1940 but has since declined to fewer than 10,000. It is now mainly a rural community with few commercial or industrial activities. The name "Forest Park" comes from two adjacent parcels of land that were donated by John Sears to the town in 1836. One parcel was located east of the village line; the other parcel was located west of it. When Forest Park was first established, it consisted only of these two tracts of land. Over time, additional parcels were annexed to make up the present shape of Forest Park today: north (the easternmost) parcel lies within Cuyahoga County; south (the westernmost) parcel lies within Ottawa County; and east (including much of what is now the village) lies within Wayne County. One reason for this growth is that Forest Park quickly became an important stop on the Underground Railroad during America's centennial year in 1876-77 because so many farmers needed to get away from slavery during that period. Many freed slaves settled into Forest Park after their freedom arrived and began anew lives as farmers and citizens. Today there are several museums located inside or near ForestPark Village: Ohio Historical Commission Museum - displays artifacts from pre-historic through current times at one location; State Fairgrounds Museum - features exhibits about agriculture and industry associated with both Ohio state fairs dating back to 1904 at two locations; Wright Brothers House - homebuilt by brothers George and Wilbur Wright on lands adjacent to ForestPark in 1903 contains relics including aviation tools used during their flight trials which took place here; also includes visitor center containing interactive exhibits about life in early American forests

Forest Park was founded in 1836 by Colonel James P. Morrill, a U.S. Army officer and landowner who had purchased 5,000 acres of forested land east of Cleveland from the Delaware Company. The first residents of Forest Park were indentured servants brought over from England in 1836 by General George Washington Parke Custis. The park was named for him because he donated 1,000 acres (400 hectares) to the state of Ohio as part of his gift to the United States in 1837. In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln declared Forest Park a national forest, making it one of only four U.S. national forests with such status at that time. In 1927, it became an independent National Wildlife Refuge when it was combined with other refuges around Cleveland under the National Parks Act Amendments of 1926. In 1940, two buildings on portions of what is now Michigan Avenue were added to Forest Park as part of then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal program to improve public education and provide employment opportunities for unemployed Americans during World War II. These structures are now known as Roosevelt's Executive Office Building and Old Executive Office Building, respectively
