Forest Park is a town in Defiance County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Muncie Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Forest Park was James Kelling in 1825. The current town site was laid out by George Winton in 1838 and named for him. In 1839, John Fenton platted the area around what is now Forest Park and it became a village on March 15, 1840. On July 8, 1845, Forest Park incorporated as a town under the name of "Defiance". On May 5, 1849, Defiance incorporation was repealed and replaced with Akron because of its larger size. As an agricultural community that Dependable Coal Companyowned land for farming purposes until 1915 when it conveyed all its coal lands to Cleveland Timber & Manufacturing Co., also part of Cleveland's industrialization process; Forest Park enjoyed some prosperity during this time but declined thereafter as production decreased and competition from other towns increased prices for goods available here while raw materials were still expensive to produce outside of Cleveland proper In 1917 local businessman Ozzie Vanderlip purchased much needed funds to improve transportation along US Route 20 through the center of town which would have given more access to businesses located there instead of driving miles out into rural areas On December 3rd 1920 Ozzie Vanderlip donated land adjacent to his home at 203 S Main Street (now called Vanderlip Drive) in order to create a parkland square measuring 350 feet east-west by 225 feet north-south - this donation would later become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Akron

Forest Park is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is located in the Athens-Muncy census area, and has a population of 1,876 as of the 2010 census. The town was first settled by German Americans in 1814 and was named for Christopher Columbus Forest, an American developer who had donated land to the town site. In 1902, Forest Park became part of Athens after it seceded from Muskingum County. The name “Forest” came from a grant Christopher Columbus made to his friend James Kapp in 1811 to fund his colonization of what is now Ohio and Kentucky. The grant included 640 acres (248 hectares) of forestland that would be used for agricultural purposes only; however, when Columbus died two years later, his heirs decided to keep the land and rename it Forest Park in honor of their benefactor. The first stores opened in Forest Park on October 12th, 1898 when Jno Smeaton opened up a general store on High Street corner with Mabel White's restaurant (now closed). A post office was established at Forest Park on November 2nd, 1902 under the name "Aurora". The first doctor in Forest Park was Drs John Fenton and Henery Dickson who both practicing at Father Knapp's Hospital until 1906 when they moved into their own building at 403 Elm Street which still stands today as one of downtown ForestPark's most popular tourist attractions! In 1907 there were only 10 residents living inForest park while some 300 people lived within five miles (8 km) radius including Dublin and Gahanna! On December 15th 1907 Municipal Court Judge Eberhard Reese ruled that women could vote starting January 1st 1908! This decision so excited many womenfolk because they finally had access to government services hitherto unavailable to them including property ownership voting rights! On July 4th 1918 Cleveland native Harry Jerome McCormick paid $750 cash for three lots located north side between Orchard Road & High School which served as the nucleus for what would become McCormick Place or simply "The Woodlands" as it was commonly known throughout its history! McCormick Place quickly became home to many businesses such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Macy's Department Store etc., eventually becoming too large and complex for its original location so he sold it off began expanding into other areas such as Auburn Hills (today's Strongwood Village), Berea which housed his engineering company Seaweed Industries Incorporated until he retired at age 89 years old in 1984 leaving behind over 100 companies employing over 40000 employees worldwide operations Arena Hall Conference Center stadium Rickenbacker Stadium Forreston Elementary School also built during this time
In 1802, the land that is now Forest Park was part of theequivalent to today's Northwest Ohio region. The area was first settled by farmers and pioneer traders in the 1800s. By 1840, the area had become a thriving farming community with more than 1,000 residents. In 1851, Forest Park became a township and in 1870 it became a city. At its peak as a city, Forest Park had over 20,000 residents. It declined after World War II and experienced several economic downturns. However, in the late 1990s and early 2000s Forest Park regained its former prominence as an agricultural center with significant businesses located there including pork producers Smithfield Foods and Tyson Foods Inc., lumber corporations Outagamie Lumber Co., Mohawk Woods Nursery & Seed Company and American Weavers Inc.
