In WWII they became a subsidiary of NRA (National Rifle Association) which helped contribute to their success as a manufacturer of firearms for civilians and military purposes alike. There is no one specific place to start when discussing the history of Forest Park, Ohio. However, some key events that took place in the town include the opening of a post office in 1884, the beginning of World War II and the construction of several large manufacturing plants. Additionally, Forest Park was also home to a number of early aviation pioneers such as George Cayuga and Will Rogers.
Forest Park is a city in the southeastern corner of Ohio and is part of the Columbus Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 24,546 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Greater Columbus area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Forest Park were French traders on their way from Lake Erie to trade with the Native Americans. The French also built a fur trading post here in 1794. In 1814, when General Andrew Jackson was elected President of the United States, he visited this site and ordered construction of a military road between Washington D.C., and Cincinnati that ran through present-day Forest Park. The town of Grove City, Pennsylvania was founded just east of where Forest Park now stands by settlers who bought land here from Jackson's generals during his tenure as President. In 1865, after much debate over whether or not to annex what are today neighboring cities of Cleveland (then called Cuyahoga County) into Ohio, the village of Euclid voted to annexed by Forest Park while Cleveland voted against it 3-2 owing to its fear that Forest Park would become too powerful politically if it became an independent municipality with its own police department and fire department. In 1896, when Euclid merged with Cleveland to form Cleveland Heights, many residents chose not to merge because they felt that their hometown would still be separate and distinct from other municipalities within Ohio even though they share same ZIP code (1913). However, because both towns had been incorporated as villages before becoming cities, they continued to function as separate municipalities until 1999 when they merged into one larger city under Mayor George Voinovich’s direction which at that time numbered 25% black population compared to only 10% white population according to US Census data for 2000 which showed 23% black population among all American cities having more than 20% black populations). During this time period there were some protests against Mayor Voinovich’s decision but eventually these protests petered out due mainly because most residents felt like their concerns had already been addressed by previous mayors including Voinovich himself who at that time held majorities in both houses of the Ohio legislature making annexation proceeding much easier than it had ever been before especially given his long history as mayor which started shortly after he took office in 1978 following a campaign promise made during his gubernatorial run four years earlier when he said “I will annex any municipality that votes against me” This pledge was later honored by being enshrined on his tombstone inside City Hall whereupon you can see a plaque reading “Mayor George Voinovich: I Will Annex Any Municipality That Votes Against Me” After years of negotiations led by then-Councilman Rick Kocher (who represented northeast side suburbs such as Riverview Heights and Mayfield Village), on November 5th 2003 voters passed Measure B2 allowing for annexation into downtown Columbus without first getting approval from Euclid officials since those officials did not want their community changed into an urban district like those proposed for southwest side suburbs such as Strongsville Township At first few businesses thought anything could happen since no annexation had ever happened in Euclid but soon enough word spread about this new development so businesses came back online and people began buying homes again

The land had been donated by General William Tecumseh Sherman to help create a park in honor of his fallen compatriots during World War I. One of the most famous features of Forest Park is its zoo, which has beenOperating since 1924. In 1814, Forest Park was organized as a township in Summit County. In 1827, the township was renamed in honor of George Washington. On July 4, 1868, the Township was divided into two precincts and Forest Park became one precinct. The first election for township trustees took place on November 3, 1868. On February 6, 1869 the first board of trustees was elected and they were: James Fenton (vice president), John Hymes (treasurer), Samuel Wickersham (judge) and Augustus Nutting (builder). The first post office opened at Forest Park on October 1, 1870. On May 26th, 1897, the village of Canfield was incorporated within the Township of Forest Park. Canfield had a population of fifty-six people when it became an independent municipality. The last meeting of the township trustees took place on December 15th and they were: James Fenton (vice president), John Hymes (treasurer), Samuel Wickersham (judge) and Augustus Nutting (builder). There are currently no active trustee members for Forest Park Township
