Forest Park is a town in the Delaware County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The name Forest Park was given to the town by General George Washington and his aide-de-camp Dr. David Thomson while they were visiting Athens Township in late 1799 or early 1800. The General and Thomson visited a plantation on High Street in Forest Park and saw that its owner, Colonel Nicholas Rogers, had planted an extensive forested land beyond what he could use for farming purposes. The General ordered Rogers to sell the land to settlers so that it could be developed into a village. Rogers refused because he wanted to keep his plantation intact as well as develop it for civilian uses. A year later, Washington ordered all settlements in Ohio be named after generals or members of Congress who had served during the Revolution (Washington himself being among those names). President James K. Polk renamed Athens Township Greenfield Township in honor of high school graduate Congressman Thaddeus Stevens when he took office in 1908 (). In 1802, John Denny founded Delaware County's first gristmill and millrace on the southern edge of Forest Park from where he derived much of his income from exporting flour from northwestern Indiana; this mill still operates today as Denny's Mill . In 1807–08 James Kapp established a horse breeding operation near present day Delaware Lake which became one of America's leading horse breeding enterprises In 1810 John Morse founded Brown & Morse Paper Manufacturing Company which became one of America’s leading paper producers In 1814 Charles Goodyear began operations at Goodyear Rubber Company located on High Street west ofpresent day Main Street) After years of growth and development various stores and agencies have replaced many earlier buildings including Grange Insurance building (now occupied by PNC bank), First Baptist Church (currently used by Nationwide Mutual Insurance), Masonic Lodge No 1 (now used by Tower Life Insurance), Schoolhouse No 2 (now home to NorthStar Bank), Post Office Building (stood until demolished in 1966 but now used as part of Dutch Elm Hospitality - see photo below), Community Service Center (formerly known as Walmart) In 1909–1910 Cleveland Heights annexed much surrounding territory making up what is now Defiance Township along with portions of Scioto Township eastward including about three-quarters desiring annexation but not meeting certain conditions imposed such as equal male/female voting rights for township residents etc., these changes taking place just before World War I . The following year Daniel Webster organized Territorial Society Of American Indians () headquartered at Eclectic Hall built adjacent to present day Wright State University campus ). On October 3 1914 trustees awarded green flag to Lewis College Preparatory School (), which then became Lewisland Collegiate Institute .) Finally effective November 16 1916 enrollment totals reached 822 students (). This marked significant increase over previous years due To increased enrollments coming largely from increasing industrial populations living near universities like Wooster College (), Kent State University (), Lorain College (), Cuyahoga Falls City Schools () etc.) Today Lewisland Collegiate Institute offers undergraduate degrees through its Colleges Of Business Administration (), Information Sciences ()) And Health Sciences (); As well As pursuing graduate degrees such as Master's degree programs In Physical Science ()) And Earth Science ()) through their colleges: ()liberal arts college: ;-) )

Forest Park is a small town in northeastern Ohio, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Akron-Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Forest Park was founded by George Hinton in 1814 as a small settlement on the east side of Fairfield Creek. In 1831, it became an independent township and was renamed Forest Park after Cincinnati's Forest Park neighborhood. The township had an area of 54 square miles (138 km2). In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln dedicated what is now the Forrest Park Cemetery to the memory of soldiers who died during the American Civil War. On July 4th, 1907, a small fire destroyed most of the village center in Forest Park when two children set off a spark from a cigarillo while playing near their father's store. The resulting inferno destroyed homes and businesses throughout downtown and portions ofFairfield Township before being put out by firefighters using hoses from their engines. The Post Office at this time opened under name "Erie" on July 3rd, 1907 which served until February 14th, 1916 when it changed to its current name "Forest Park". With over 2 million mail carrierpieces delivered through its doors annually during these years it ranks as one of America's largest post offices ever operated at that time! Five years later on November 6th1920s Main Street in downtown ForestPark burned down completely due to arson stating that "the mischief done by some boys having fun burning school property must be made good." Despite this devastating event Main Street still remains active today serving as both retail & business district for downtown Akron with multiple restaurants including Jiffy Lube and Dunkin' Donuts dating back to 1922! On October 15th1964 Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell announced plans for his team to move from Cleveland Municipal Stadium (now Quicken Loans Arena) to newly built FirstEnergy Stadium in Euclid Heights which would eventually become home also to the Cleveland Indians baseball team; however due to funding shortfalls within stadiums movement plans stalled and finally failed when stadium ownership passed into hands of local developer Arthur Ashe who instead named his new development "ForestPark" after his childhood home & community forest land where he had always been interested in developing a shopping mall & recreation center specifically for sports fans!
