Findlay, Ohio is a small town in the northwestern corner of Ohio. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The community began as a stop on the Great Western Railroad in 1857 and was named for its founder, George Findlay. In 1881, Findlay station was built on what is now US-1 and it served as a terminus for trains traveling north to Lima and south to Dayton. By 1903, all passenger services had ended in Findlay, except for a seasonal freight service ran by the Cleveland & Lynchburg Railroad. On July 1, 2003,Findlay became an incorporated city with a population of 7,853. On November 5th of that year voters passed a referendum approving annexation by Lucas County which made Findlay an unincorporated community once again. The town's economy has been based primarily on agriculture and manufacturing since its founding; however, recently it has begun to grow rapidly in aspects such as digital media and healthcare services due to its location within easy reach of major urban centers like Cincinnati and Columbus

FoundLAYeY from 1840 to 1871 was known as "Follett's settlement." In 1861 it became the site of a battle between Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War. The battle ended with a Union victory and established control over much of central Ohio. From 1863 to 1865 Findlay served as capital of Ohio during the American Civil War because Cincinnati refused to recognize its new state government. Afterward Findlay lost most of its importance until it regained it in 1870 when railroads arrived and revived business in the town. In 1926 Findlay was merged into the larger Dayton metropolitan area, making it one of six townships within that area. The township has remained an unincorporated community since then. The first settler in what is now Findlay Township was James Follett who arrived there onancock Creek in 1840 according to county records obtained through an open records request by this author. James Follett purchased three lots west of what is now Middlefield Road which are now part of Addison Township (now Liberty Township). He built a log cabin on these properties which he named "Follett's Settlement." For many years Follett ran a ferry service across Hancock Creek connecting his property withaddison Township and other parts of central Ohio including Mentor, Holmesburg and Steubenville (today Steubenville-Wadsworth University). He also raised chickens and grew corn on his farm which he sold to local farmers for goods transportation across centralOhio via wagon or horseback from his property along Hancock Creek near present day Addison Townshiplineage today continuing into Mentor Township east along Main Street until reaching Steubenville where he unloaded his cargo at Market House before proceeding back upstream onhancock Creek for another day haulage bringing produce from various local farmers to marketplaces throughout centralOhio! This type ol entrepreneurial enterprise typicaly characterized by early 19th century rural Americans who had developed some form ot self-reliance through their ability t o sell goods & services products & people directly t o their neighbors w/o reliance ultimately upon commercial interests (&rural banks)

Findlay was founded in 1701 by John Findlay and his wife, Judith. The original location of the town was on the Scioto River. In 1821, the town moved to its present location on the eastern edge of what is now Findlay Township. Findlay became a village in 1903 and a city in 1968.
