Findlay was founded in 1795 by Captain James Findlay and Major John Henshaw. It became a town in 1827 after being selected as the site of the new national capital, Washington City. The first gun shop in Findlay opened in 1829. In 1865, the city built its first courthouse and library. Findlay's population grew to over 20,000 by 1870. The city won a gold medal for excellence in municipal government at the 1888 World Fair. In 1907, it became part of Cleveland.
Findlay, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Holmes County. The population was 25,851 at the 2010 census, making it the 11th most populous city in Greater Cleveland. Findlay is located on the southern edge of what is now Holmes County and was part of Lucas County before being annexed by Cleveland in 1836. The first settlers in this area were Dutch traders who arrived around 1650. The town land that now lies within Holmes County was acquired from them by George Rogers Clark in 1797 as part of his Purchase of lands from the Shawnee Indians. In 1802, when Euclid became a village, it incorporated as a town under the name "Findlay". It lost its charter to become a city on December 15, 1903 after voters rejected an ordinance for that purpose by a narrow margin (54-46). On October 26, 1907 Mayor John Denton proposed annexinglying communities into Findlay to ease traffic congestion caused by their continued growth; however this proposal met with strong opposition from residents because they felt they had been shortchanged financially by annexation. On March 1, 1908 Superior Court sided with residents and refused to approve annexation while asking City Hall to investigate whether there had been any fraud or misrepresentation involved in Denton's proposal. A year later on April 14, 1909 City Council voted 2-1 to annex Findlay into Cleveland due to increased traffic congestion and financial sacrifices made by both sides involved in negotiations leading up to it - $2 million dollars had already been spent on studies related thereto since January 9th that year alone! A fire destroyed much of downtown Findlay on November 5th 1906 which affected over 500 businesses including 200 homes valued at $2 million dollars at the time! While some blame arsonists for setting this fire deliberately during economic conditions rife with tension between towns and cities across America at that time - particularly given how many reconstruction projects were actively underway following World War I - more likely reasons remain unknown today but still cause inconvenience for those living near downtowns today. There have been several attempts over the years since then (2007-2009)to bring back downtown Findlay’s former glory through public/private partnerships but all failed due lack interest or political will among government officials who see no reason why such an effort should be repeated again – much like similar efforts undertaken throughout suburban Cleveland following several devastating fires there also resulting in little tangible return for taxpayers investment over multiple decades

Findlay, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Lucas County. The population was 9,033 at the 2010 census. Findlay was founded in 1812 by Solomon Findlay and his family as a trading post on the Scioto River near present-day Painters Mill. The name means "the place where wood is gathered." The first settler in Findlay was Solomon Findlay Jr., who arrived in 1812 from Pennsylvania with his father, Solomon Findlay Sr. In 1815, John Dickey settled there after moving from Wayne County, Michigan. By 1830, about 60% of the settlers were Methodists led by Revs John Dickey and James Cockerill. A mill was built on the Scioto River in 1830 by Samuel Huntley to process lumber for export to England. The townspeople voted to incorporate as a village in 1835 and adopted its current name of Findlay that year. In 1840, when Ohio became a state, it included Lucas County within it; however, because of religious objections of some residents to voting for an all-Christian state government (thus violating their First Amendment rights), they seceded and formed a separate municipality known as unincorporated Wayne County until it merged into Ohio in 1907. The founding members of the United States Congress from Ohio were: James Kapp (1801–1858), David Sanger (1802–1885), George Wickersham (1803–1925) and Moses Hocking (1800–1872). One notable businessman who had local roots was Jno Gage who grew up on a farm west of downtown Findlay until he bought land east of town along Lake Erie for development into what is now Midland Township; he founded Gage Manufacturing Company which manufactured agricultural equipment including threshers and planters before becoming one of America's largest farmers with over 150 miles²²of farmland located throughout central Ohio He also served as an assessor township treasurer during much later periods through 1919; Then came World War II Andrey Amundsen - aviator | Ulysses S Grant - General | Franklin D Roosevelt - President

Findlay's population increased rapidly following the American Civil War, reaching over 100,000 by 1876. The city saw a rapid growth during the1920s as Prohibition began to be repealed and new bars and restaurants opened up in downtown Findlay.
