However, when John Browning began designing shotguns in 1868, he realized that these weapons could be used effectively against Confederate troops during the American Civil War. Browning succeeded in creating some of the most effective shotguns ever made, and his cannons became known as "the Brownings". In 1892, Augustus Saint-Gaudens donated land to Findlay Township for use as a public park. This area now includes much of downtown Findlay and is home to several museums such as The Toledo Museum of Art and The Cleveland Museum of Art. In 1906, Congress passed the National Firearms Act (NFA), which gave Americans the right to purchase firearms without any background check system required. This law was later repealed by President Harry Truman in 1934. The following year saw another important event when James Waco brought about what is now called "Waco Mountain Gun Club" in order to protest against government restrictions on Second Amendment rights. Many people from throughout Findlay joined Waco Mountain Gun Club in order to protect their constitutional rights while they protested against government tyranny. Unfortunately, this peaceful demonstration resulted in members of the government being killed by sniper fire from outside the building.. This event helped spark a new generation of firearm owners within Findlay Township who wanted to protect their rights under our Constitution rather than submitting to government tyranny once again. Many people have contributed over time making this corridor one rich community history!
