Findlay, Ohio is a small town in central Ohio that has been home to many gun magazines over the years. The first gun magazine in Findlay was the American Rifleman, which was founded in 1892. The American Rifleman became the first magazine to be published in Dayton, Ohio. In 1907, the Dayton Daily News began publishing the American Rifleman and it continued to be published until 1949. The Dayton Daily News is now known as the Cincinnati Enquirer. In 1916, revolver magazine Rock Island Armory opened its doors in Findlay. Rock Island Armory was one of the earliest gun mags to become popular due to its high-quality products and wide selection of pistols and revolvers. It continued to be published until 1978. In 1928, pistol magazine Colt's Manufacturing Company opened its doors in Findlay with a focus on pistols only. It continues to be published today and is known for its high quality products and customer service. Colt’s Manufacturing Company is also one of the oldest firearms manufacturers in America with origins dating back to 1795. In 1951, shotgun magazine Winchester Repeating Arms Company opened its doors in Findlay with a focus on shotguns only. Winchester Repeating Arms Company remains active today and publishes some of the most popular shotguns on the market such as Winchesters, Remingtons, Mossbergs and others. Winchester Repeating Arms Company has been publishing Shotgun Magazines since 1887

Findlay, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Holmes County. The population was 23,859 at the 2010 census. Founded in 1811 by settlers from Pennsylvania, Findlay became an important port on the Great Lakes after being chosen as the site for a United States military fortification in 1814 during the War of 1812. The town's rich history includes several famous individuals: Andrew Jackson was born here; General George Armstrong Custer died here; and William Jennings Bryan served as U.S. Senator from Ohio from 1913 to 1933. As of 2015, Findlay ranks third in population growth among Cleveland-the-Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Areas (CSAs). The first permanent settlers arrived around 1792 when George Washington and his party journeyed downriver from Fort Clinton along present-day Route 10 to explore present-day southeastern Ohio after discovering what he thought was a possible new land route between Canada and Mexico that would avoid war with France over control of that territory at that time. In 1795, Major James Logan founded Loganville on both sides of today's Sandusky River just south of where Findlay now stands – becoming one of the first American towns established west of Appalachia." In 1811, following Indian attacks on frontier settlements near present day Toledo and Piqua located about southwest of Dayton, Congress approved plans to establish military outposts on both Great Lakes in order to prevent further European settlement eastward into lands claimed by Native Americans including those near modern day Akron and Toledo.. On 7 October 1814 at Fort Dearborn (now Independence) east bank of Maumee River opposite Sandusky Lake were two detachments each mounted with twelve men under Col.[James] Logan commander Captains John Armstrong and Jacob Riis who had been ordered to take possession as soon as possible because British forces had blockaded Detroit while also attacking other sites along both lakeshore including Ottawa Landing 10 miles north west later called Wooster Landing due to similarity in name with Ottawa River location then known only as "Sandusky". A three mile wide semicircle earthworks were built within this initial post which measured 400 feet wide x 300 feet deep with breastwork extending up to 50 feet above water level surrounding a ditchless inner ring ditch 25 feet long diameter surrounded by six roundabout circles or baileyal walls 20 feet high/deep containing 2 buildings each for 24 men garrisoned by 8 Europeans soldiers whose job it was “to provide against all kinde Of incursions” Andrew Jackson was born here on 12 January 1767 sonof James & Nancy(Fenton)Jackson who lived near Tonawanda Creek about southeast today’s Orchard Township off I‐71 exit 201A off I‐277 South (formerly US 40 Rte 9). He married Rachel Donelson Here December 15th 1800 she being three months premature due to cholera pandemic sweeping across America at that time which caused severe diarrhea & vomiting which killed more than 100 children aged 6 months through 3 years old throughout Harrisonburg County Virginia (& adjacent Maryland) primarily affecting Quaker families living close together known then as "The Daylight System". They had five children: Anna Maria (born November 30th1801), James Monroe (January 14th1805),Rufus Seward Knox Polk Jr.(April 4th1808), Rachel Elizabeth Foote(October 26th1810),and Winfield Scott Hancock(May 5th1813). One daughter survived infancy but never reached adulthood... Andrew Jackson become president US President Andrew Johnson appointed him Secretary Of State In March 1865 when Johnson became president following Lincoln assassination however he resigned less than two weeks later citing political differences over Reconstruction policies having opposed them George Armstrong Custer died here September 16th 1881 age 63 after leading Union cavalry charges against Confederate army major general Joseph Ewing's command during BattleOf Little Big Horn northwest Kansas during Wounded Knee campaign fought between July 28 -September 12 1861 while serving with Company H Ninth New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment commanded by Captain Daniel Boone interim Commanding officer until replaced by Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Griggs late August 1861during second battle pitched around noonOctober 14 1861near White Sands Springs east OK Territory resulting in many dead&wounded while Indiana militiamen helped recross Black Hills Mountains achieving early success thereby saving numerous lives William Jennings Bryan succeeded him as Senator from Ohio holding office 1923 til 1933 when he retired effective December 1st 1933 due health problems

This journal was known for its comprehensive guide to firearms and their ammunition. The second magazine was published in 1802 by Ezra Stiles. This publication focused on pistols and other firearms. The third magazine was published in 1853 by Elijah White. This publication featured articles on rifles and shotguns. The fourth magazine was published in 1865 by Samuel Colt. This publication became popular for its editorials and illustrations that depicted handguns, rifles, and shotguns from different perspectives. By the end of the 20th century, there were over 1,000 gun magazines in existence worldwide!

The Town of Findlay was organized on March 26, 1850, by Order of the President James K. Polk. A charter issued February 16, 1852 granted to the town its current name and organization as a city with jurisdiction over all but one square mile (0.8 km²). The first mayor of Findlay was Jno Hustedt; he served from November 3, 1850 to July 2, 1861. The city's first mayoralty included six members: Wm Fenton (term expired January 15, 1857), Geo Mclntyre (term expired December 12th, 1860), David Crouch (elected November 5th October 7th 1861), Hiram Soper (elected December 8th 1862), Ebenezer Crane (elected January 11th 1865) On September 25-26, 1907 during the America's Cup Races between Sweden and Denmark at Cleveland Bay there were mass protests against Ulysses S Grant's executive order which closed down transportation within five miles of shoreline on Lake Erie due to bad water conditions caused by severe weather conditions affecting that region at that time including Hurricane Agnes which killed 122 people including many children along with widespread destruction throughout much of northeastern Ohio taking weeks or months to restore even some areas affected such as what is now downtown Cleveland Heights where most homes were destroyed or greatly damaged it has been said this event led directly to American entry into World War I
Findlay was founded in 1795 by John Findlay and his family. The town reached its peak of development in the late 1800s, but declined during the Great Depression. Findlay's current economy is based on tourism, livestock production, and small businesses.
