In 1905, they again voted to incorporation but this time it passed with an majority vote and became an independent city under the name "Findlay". On July 1, 1907 its charter was revoked by Dayton Township pending review by an arbitrator after allegations that Mayor George Fenton violated city ordinances regarding fireside chatty evenings with women residents during his private political campaigns; Fenton later conceded guilt and served five months imprisonment before being pardoned by Dayton Township voters upon his return to office as mayor in October 1907 In 1916-1920 there were three wars fought near or inside Findlay: World War I (1916), World War II (1939-1945), and Korea (1950-1953).
