John Lennon's mother Mary lived with her family at FairVIEW PARK during her childhood years; she later moved to Liverpool, England and died there aged 83 years. In 1957, Lennon married Yoko Ono and they moved to New York City where they resided until his death in 1980). One of Lennon's guitars had been kept at Fairview Park since its purchase by his widow after his death; it now resides in the ownership of their son Sean Lennon Jr.. Another resident ofFairviewPark during its early days was Peter Sellers who became an American millionaire through various businesses including soap manufacturing and toy production companies before dying aged 95 years old in 1966 just four months after leaving home to attend a performance at Shea Stadium promoted by then-Senator George Ford Sr.). Fairview Park is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,365 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Fairview Park" derives from its location near Fairview Lake and the fairgrounds which were located there until they were moved to Majestic Stadium in 1950. The first land that became Fairview Park was purchased by John Calkins in 1821. He founded what would become the town of Fairview on his farmstead on the south side of Cooks Creek just east of present-day Euclid Avenue. In 1824, Calkins donated 7 acres (2 km²) of his property to the city of Cleveland for use as a park. The first public park in Cleveland was Fairview Park on East Side Road between Superior Avenue and Madison Street. This park had a capacity of only 100 people and was used mainly for picnics and games during summertime. In 1850, when Majestic Stadium was built on Brushycroft Heights north of downtown Cleveland, it required demolition and reconstructionof many homes in order to build the stadium including those at 21st Street and Euclid Avenue which now form part of FairVIEW PARK! After years of construction, Majestic Stadium opened in October 1955 with a game between the Browns and Cincinnati Bengals!
The Fairview Park location in Ohio was the home of a large plantation from the early 1800s until 1865. The property was donated to the state by J.E.B. Stuart and his father, General James Estrada Stuart, in 1871 as part of land acquisitions for the University of Northern Ohio.
