Fairview Park is a city in Logan County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Marshall area. The first European settlement in what is now Fairview Park was made on July 10, 1800 by Captain John Smith and his party of Ohio Volunteers under the command of Colonel James Wilkinson. At that time it was part of Shawnee county. The name Fairview Park probably derived from two adjoining parcels of land which were owned by Captains John Fair and David Logan. They sold their holdings to General Ross in 1803 for $3,000 dollars plus interest. In 1807 General Ross donated to the town a tract of land totaling , including present-day FairVIEW PARK. The townspeople soon determined to rename the park after its patron saint, St. Francis Xavier (1767-1847). The first Catholic church in what is now Fairview Park was built in 1814 by Father Luigi Moretti and dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto. renovations started in 1893 were completed by Bishop George Ryan who named it Notre Dame de la Donna Litta (Our Lady's Little House). The first post office opened in 1897 and continued operation until 1957; it was then transferred to nearby Elyria serving as the site for an interim courthouse before being moved back into Fairview Park proper when Elyria became its own city in 1907 On October 15, 1906 local resident Josie Fields died following an illness that had originated with a cold caused by an exposure to mites while working on her family's farm near Lima; she had been laid off from her job due to their new Factory labor law which required women workers be registered with their families so they would not be fired if they lost their jobs because they did not have children or husbands working outside the home). Her death marked the first case reported nationally of food poisoning associated with work at a factory On November 17th same year another local resident Mrs Jane Addams died after eating lunch at her daughter’s apartment complex near Euclid Heights after becoming ill after taking ibuprofen for cramps from her mother who also ate there that day Addams' death brought national attention to fair housing regulations which were then being debated in Congress Finally on December 5th 1906 only one week after Josie Fields' death residents Mary Alice McCarthy (housewife) and Margery McNamara (maid) both contracted food poisoning from eating fresh produce from their garden adjacent to school property; both women developed jaundice requiring hospitalization but survived On December 12th 1906 local resident Josephine Conklin became ill after eating dinner at her sister’s house; she also developed jaundice but recovered within 24 hours despite having eaten raw milk several times during her childhood
