Fairview Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Fairview, Defiance County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,854 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become Fairview Park was John Vincent in 1811. Vincent had come to this area from Delaware Township and named his land "Farragut." In 1819, he sold his interest in the tract to John Sweeny. The first post office in what would become Fairview Park was established in 1830. The name of the post office changed several times before it became FairVIEW PARK on November 8, 1850. The first store at FairVIEW PARK opened on October 15, 1851 by Jno Covington and Geo Witherspoon. A school was also established at FairVIEW PARK soon after it became a community. In 1868, Aetna Life Insurance Company moved its headquarters from Newark, New Jersey to Chesterfield Township due to business problems there with its predecessor company that had been organized two years earlier as the American Life Insurance Company of Ohio Incorporated). At that time Chesterfield Township had 587 residents and FairVIEWPark had only 100 residents; however both towns were incorporated into Defiance County on January 1st 1870 under new legislation which merged all township functions into one agency called "the county commissioners" - an act which made Defiance County even more tightly knit with respect to village/township boundaries than it already was! In 1870FairVIEWPARK also received a small block of property east of US 6 along I-270 just south of Leonhard Drive - this land later became known as Highland Heights! When Aetna vacated their Chesterfield Township location in 1969 they left behind over 20 acres (81 m2) of highland estate undeveloped which has since been developed intoigerous acreage housing developments including some homes valued over $1 million! In addition to its role as an important center for commerce and culture during most portions of its history;FairVIEWPARK has also played host to numerous festivals throughout the year such as various agricultural shows & exhibitions held annually during late summer or early fall; fairs & markets held throughout winter months; country music concerts throughout springtime/summertime; arts& crafts show located each fall during October-November near downtown Harrisonburg; Three Rivers Arts Festival typically occurs every other weekend during late May through early June across from Downtown Harrisonburg featuring local artwork from around Northeast Ohio
