Fairview Park is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,543 at the 2010 census. It has been part of the Cleveland metropolitan area since the 1970s. The park is located on Fairview Heights Boulevard between Ashtabula and Mentor Streets. The first settler in what is now Fairview Park was John Allbright. He arrived in 1788 from Cumberland County and founded a farm on what is now Ashtabula Heights Boulevard. In 1812, he sold his land to William Henniker and others, who laid out a town named Fairview on the site of their farmstead. The name was changed to Fairview Park in 1837 when it became an incorporated village. In 1916, Cleveland Municipal Court moved its court building from downtown to Fairview Park after years of being housed in different locations within city limits. That same year saw the opening of one of Cleveland's first golf courses – Jackson Hills Golf Course (now Quicken Loans Arena). A year later, local developer Art Rooney bought 126 acres (50 hectares) northeast of FairVIEW Park and began development with two primary goals: creating public use land for parks and providing homes for employees of his new Steelstown Steel Corp., which had found new employment nearby thanks to invention by Alfred Nobel that led to World War I production at plants in Canton and Youngstown. The houses were built using Tudor Revival style architecture which replaced earlier Gothic Revival designs used for many other types of buildings during that time period including churches and factories; these styles continue into the present day as Elizabethan Revival style architecture reflects Ireland's Anglican heritage during that time period . Fairview Park is a small, rural community located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in central Ohio. The community was founded in 1839 by John Fairview and his wife Esther. The original plat for the town was surveyed in 1843 and it was built on land that John and Esther had purchased from a Creek Indian tribe. In 1893, Fairview Park became an incorporated village under the name of West Union. On July 1, 1907, Fairview Park incorporated as a city with a population of 515 people. In 1969, West Union merged with Cincinnati to form Cincinnati-Hamilton County. The town of Fairview Park is known for its beautiful parkland which includes four football fields, three baseball diamonds, a tennis court, two playgrounds, and two skating rinks. The park also contains several historical buildings including the John FairVIEW House (1843), Esther FAIRVIEW House (1893), and the Harrison Bros.' Store (1898). The Harrison Bros.' Store is now used as the library building. Additionally, there are several restaurants located in or aroundFairview Park such as Green Gables Restaurant & Grille (founded 1948), Bluegrass BBQ & Brewhouse(founded 1981), Mountaineer Casino(opened 1990), Hungry Horse Coffee & Bakery(opened 2006), Painted Lady Cafe(opened 2009) and Old Dutch Tavern( opened 1984).
Fairview Park was founded in 1820 by John Fairview and his wife Rebecca. The park is named for the family's home at Fairview, which is located about two miles from the park's original location. For many years, the fairgrounds were used as a riding school for horses and other animals. In 1849, the fairgrounds were donated to the city of Toledo by John FairVIEW Sr., father of John FairVIEW Jr. The first fair in Fairview Park was held on October 9th, 1849.
