The land that makes up Fairview Park was first settled by German immigrants in 1824. In 1839, the community of Fairview was organized and named after Fair View Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. In 1866, the community of Fairview Heights was organized and named after nearbyFairview Township. In 1892, a post office called "Fairsville" was established in what is now FairVIEW PARK. On May 8th 1902, the name change to "FairVIEW PARK". The first home built in what is now FairVIEW PARK was built by Hosea Cook in 1904 and his wife Fannie Cook. In 1928FairVIEW PARK had a population of 474 people; it declined to just 54 people by 1930 due to World War II and then rebounded to 724 residents by 1940 due to growth within the Columbus area during that time period from industry such as steel production which had moved into central Ohio from Steel City near Pittsburgh across state lines (the Steel City industry decline caused many manufacturing jobs in central Ohio move out as well). The last enumeration for this CDP occurred on April 15th 1950 with 516 residents

Fairview Park is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Hamilton County. The population was 27,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Fairview Park was John Lewis, who arrived in 1796. Lewis named his land "Fairview" after his daughter, who was then living in London with her father and sister. In 1802, James Caldwell bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land from Lewis and laid out a town square on what are now Main Street and Spring Road. That year, Caldwell also purchased 10 acres (40 m²) of what would become Broad Ripple Cemetery from Lewis's widow for $200*. In 1803, Stephen Foster purchased 5 acres (20 m²) from Caldwell for $10*.* The village grew slowly until 1815 when it received its charter as a township from the State of Ohio.* *Note: This sale took place before Hamilton County became an organized county; it remains under current ZIP code 61723 because that is where Caldwell's original home lay * *. The park was established in 1811 as a happy hunting ground for the local deer and turkey populations. In 1825, it became a public park with a lake and tennis courts. In 1857, the first football game ever played in America was played at Fairview Park between Ohio University and Princeton University. After being used as an arena for various sports tournaments until 1927, it was dedicated as a national forest in 1951. The current fairgrounds were built on this site in 1964.
