Fairview Park is a city in the southwestern part of Ohio, United States. The population was 9,959 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lucas County. The area that now makes up Fairview Park was settled by French Canadians in 1795 and their descendants continued to live there until 1840. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson moved his army from Nashville to Fairview Township to protect settlers from raiders. As a result, Fairview became one of Jackson's first strongholds in Ohio. After the American Civil War ended, many farmers left for new opportunities in Kentucky and other states, but some remained behind and developed what is today FairVIEW PARK into a small town with a rich history. In 1872, when Cleveland annexed Lucas County, it included all of what are now Lucas County except for portions of Fairview Township which were transferred to neighboring Summit County as part of that annexation. However, most residents still considered themselves within fair VIEW PARK because they shared ownership or residency there with their friends and family members who lived elsewhere in Cleveland or Summit County. The city gradually began developing its own identity as a cultural center and commercial center outside of Cleveland while also maintaining close ties with its rural neighbors. In 1984, when Cleveland-based WXYZ-TV (channel 7) switched its entire network over to digital television service and began airing local news programming over CATV instead of cable TV providers at various times during the day - this was symbolic of how interconnected suburbanites had become through satellite TV services such as DirecTV Now - FairVIEW PARK became known nationally as "The City on the Lake". The first settlers to what is now Fairview Park were farmers and their families who arrived in 1797 from Pennsylvania. By 1800, these settlers had built a small farmstead on what is now Orchard Road near present-day Dayton. By 1810, most of these settlers had moved away from their farmsteads and become prosperous merchants or landowners around Dayton/FairVIEW County seat). In 1824, James FAIRVIEW purchased 1/4 mile (1 km) of land along Scioto River between present day Orchard Road and West Side Drive from miller John CHARLESON for $27 per acre (0.93 ha). This property became known as "FairVIEW." FAIRVIEW served as one of two commissioners on various county committees during this time period; he also served as treasurer for Muskingum County from 1830-1834. In 1840, when Ohio became a statesky nation with its own government system under president James KENTUCKY IV., Fairview Park became part of that new nation's territory extending eastward from Philadelphia downriver to Columbus Junction on the Scioto River at today's Mentor Avenue intersection with East State Street (now Northside Drive), just south of downtown Dayton! As part of this new territory,FairVIEW Parks boundaries were enlarged to include much more than current Orchard Road/West Side Drive vicinity - including portions still within today's limits ceded by Cincinnati to Dayton prior to 1938! In 1863, followingthe endofthe American Civil War,, fairview park came into Greenback Party hands dueto political machinations within party leadership over Reconstruction issues.). In 1865-1867 fairvey park passed through many hands again before coming into Republican Party control under JAMES WILSON JR.. During Wilson's rule there were many improvements made such as expanding landscaping around main house & additions like library addition that still stand today including basketball court (& football field) which are among many notable features atfairwaypark today
