In 1907, Fairborn became an incorporated village, with a mayor and five trustees who controlled most aspects of municipal life. The Village developed its own school system, library, water supply and other public services until consolidation with neighboring towns in 1959 followed by full cityhood on January 1, 1961

The first settler in what is now Fairborn was George Hinkle who arrived on July 3, 1788. He and his family were founders of the town and named it after himself - Hinkle'sown Township. Although it was originally called Muskingum County when it was organized in 1801, the name ultimately belonged to nearby Akron. In 1812, General James Dearborn moved his forces into the area and established what would become Cleveland as their new capital City. At that time Fairborn had just 1 store and a few hundred inhabitants. Thanks to its location along the Great Lakes waterway – including access to major shipping lanes – Fairborn quickly became one of the most important communities on those lakeside shores. Merchants from all over central Ohio landed here during the early 19th century to find new opportunities on this lucrative shipping trade route. wheat production also intensified due to growing demand for foodstuffs throughout America during that time period; thus helping create some of today's many staple foods products such as cereal grains and breads that are found nowhere else in North America! As manufacturing became more important in postwar America,Fairborn experienced rapid growth as an industrial center thanks to its excellent location and versatile resources (elegant brick buildings typical of this type can still be seen today). A number of well-known companies were founded here: Alcoa Aluminum Company (1929), Cushman & Wakefield Rubber Company (now layers rubber company), American Can Manufacuring Corporation (1957), GMoworking Incorporated (1967) among others; while thousands more jobs were created through diversified small businesses throughout recent decades right here in our community! In recent years however there has been significant decline in population due mainlyto shifts within agriculture & other local industry which have left many businesses vacant or unprofitable

In 1824, it became part of the new State of Ohio. The population grew rapidly during the 19th century and by 1870, Fairborn had a population of over 100,000 people. During World War I, Fairborn played a significant role in providing food for troops on the battlefields in Europe. After World War II ended,Fairborn experiencedrowth and development until it reached its current level of prosperity and diversity in the late 21st century.
