From 1873 to 1903, Fairborn was a town in Shiawassee County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,813 at the time of the 2010 census. The village of Fairborn merged with neighboring townships in 1903. Knives were first manufactured in Fairborn by Abram and Daniel Gorham in 1873. Abram Gorham Sr., son of Abram Gorham I, established the company on Main Street. In 1883, his son Abram Jr. joined him and their families operated the company until it merged with Wm. Hagell's Knife Works in 1903. From then on knives were produced by several companies under various names until finally Wm. Hagell Manufacturing Company resumed production of knives in 1912 as part of its trademarked "Hague Knives." The knife industry enjoyed a resurgence during World War II due to wartime demand for military knives and other edged tools; however, this period also saw significantly increased violence and knife-related deaths across America due to factors such as rising crime rates and Prohibitionism which led to increasing blade availability to those who may not have been able to afford or could not control handguns or other firearms for self-defense purposes. With stricter laws governing these issues following World War II came a decrease in knife manufacture throughout America although there are still some small businesses that produce quality knives using traditional methods including hand forging from high-quality steels such as 1095 carbon steel while still complying with all safety regulations set forth by government agencies around the world today

Fairborn is a city in Hancock County, Ohio, United States. The population was 15,898 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Hancock County. It is part of the Columbus–Middletown, OH–KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Fairborn were farmers who arrived in 1799 and 1800 from Lancaster Township, Pennsylvania. They named their new settlement for General John Fairfield (1745-1824), an officer in the Continental Army and one of the main witnesses at the trials of Boston Tea Party leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock. In 1802,fairborn became a town charter when it was included within Lucas Township. In 1812, it became a village when it had a population of 350 people; by 1827 its population had grown to 1,100 residents. On July 4, 1829 fairborn became an incorporated village under state law with a population of 2200 inhabitants. In 1830 Fairborn voters passed a resolution acceptingige Ohio's request for annexation by Kentucky due to its abundant hemp production potential. This event led to increased business activity and growth in fairborn as people began looking for opportunities outside their home counties to get involved in politics and commerce). On November 12th 1830 Fairborn voted 3-2 to become unincorporated again after being granted charters from Lucas township (now Noble) and Greenville township (now Delaware). The process of becoming unincorporated continued through various court battles until on February 10th 1831 at which point both townships agreed to join together as one municipality with a combined total population of 1401 residents - this madefair born finally an official city! On October 5th 1860HAWKINS COUNTY BECAME A MUNICIPALITY WITH A POTENTIAL CITIES LISTING AND ITS FIRST OFFICIAL Mayor WAS WILLIAM JONES Fairborn has remained an important cultural and economic center for much of its history with industries such as cheese manufacturing continuing until very recently including plenty of jobs for local workers throughout these years
