Euclid, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio and is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The population was 5,959 at the 2010 census. Euclid is named after Euclid College, which was founded in 1814 by Republican pioneers. A major local employer is The First National Bank of Euclid, which has its headquarters in the town square. Ohio's first white settlers arrived in what is now Euclid around 1785 and they built a log cabin known as "The Old sawmill." In 1807, John Clemens donated land to establish an academy for Europeans called Euclidean Academy and it opened on July 1, 1811 under the direction of Professor Nicholas-Jacques Conte. The academy had twelve students and three teachers with facilities including a library and a schoolhouse that served as a model for American colleges and universities starting up in the late 19th century. In 1830, Richard Muhlenberg (1796-1864), one of America's most distinguished jurists, became professor of law at Euclidean Academy; he would later become Dean of Yale University School of Law before his death at age 87 years old on October 12, 1964. In 1840–41 John Pemberton established an agricultural extension service in cooperation with farmer George Hocking through his company Pemberton & Co., which remains an important facet of American agriculture today. The early 20th century brought great change to Euclidean village as steel production increased along with automobiles becoming popular; however some aspects such as education or commerce remained relatively unchanged until recently due to lack of resources or dedicated investment from outside entities especially within Greater Cincinnati’s city limits where economic development has taken place over recent decades despite less consistent leadership or commitment from those elected into office over time – symbols notably being downtown’s 3rd Ward (formerly call “the working class district”) home to many large box stores like Sears and JCPenney while much larger employers have relocated away from areas bordering Main Street making it difficult for pedestrians to get close/see them even if they could locate them amidst high commercial buildings towering above everything else except freeway access). Euclid was a settlement in west Ohio, United States. It was named for Euclid, an ancient Greek mathematician and physicist. The first known resident of Euclid was Nicholas Flournoy, who moved there in 1814. In 1868 the townsite of Euclid and all of its land were purchased by the city of Cleveland from John Dennison for $2,500. Euclid has since been renamed Cleveland Heights and is now a neighborhood within the City of Cleveland. The town site of Euclid had been on what is now the eastern edge of what is now Akron County since 1788 when it was part of Miami Township. The area that would become Euclid Township was first settled by Native Americans in the late 1600s and early 1700s. At some point during the 1800s, representatives from multiple villages— including modern-day Akron—met at a meeting to discuss forming a township together. They came up with the idea to name their new township after geometricians such as Simon Stevin and Pierre de Laplace who had developed mathematical theories about projectile motion while working in France.After several years deliberation, they voted on May 12th, 1810 to adopt this proposal and became an official township with a population of 10 residents under divine guidance (). On December 5th, 1811, Indians led by Chief Blackwater attacked two white men near present-day Quaker Valley Farms east of present-day Cleveland – one man died as a result; according to local legend (and possibly true), Blackwater then scalped both men before fleeing back into Indian Territory.– [] On July 5th, 1830 commissioners appointed by President Andrew Jackson arrived at what is today downtown Shakopee to assess damages done by Canoga Creek Flooding which took place August 8th 1830 flooding most likely caused by construction work on John Griggs Bridge over Niagara River (); upon visiting that post office they also found evidence that George Stephenson built Michigan Central Railroad between Parkersburg [now Youngstown] PA and Elizabethtown [now Steubenville], OH ], but no record exists documenting any payment made for this service (). After being told about this discovery commissioners ordered Congress to take appropriate action (), however nothing ever happened beyond congressional inaction (). A plaque located at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Headquarters commemorates this event: “In memory of those lost Aug 8 1830 when Canoga Creek flooded” . A few months later on October 15th Commissioners traveled again northward along Canoga Creek () where they discovered remains which included garments belonging to three male victims dating back to around 1800 AD (. This discovery renewed calls for federal protection for these archeological sites .) A few weeks later another group consisting mostly OFAs(on foot) discovered human remains southeast side Of Cuyahoga River just south Of Fremont Lake (). By November 4th there were reports coming in daily from various parts central Ohio including parts near Dayton providing information on missing persons or dead bodies ranging in age from 3 months old up until elderly adults .) Finally word reached Washington D.C., Georgetown [today's Kyungwoo], Baltimore MD area that three boys aged 11-12 years named George Haggerty , James McNaughtney Jr., and Edward Haggerty had been kidnapped off Ironton Rd just east side Monongahela River ] On November 16th 1830 General David Wooster summoned all military commanders throughout America East Coast ()– [] American Minister To Europe Lord Grenville telegraphed Washington D .C . “I have learned from my Correspondent that Three Boys Were taken Off Our Road JustEast Side Of The Monongahela River Yesterday And am very anxious To Hear What You Have To Say About It”.]] In response General Wooster issued orders authorizing State Troopers stationed at Sandusky Rapids (just upstream from where he stood) “To search For These Boys And Bring Them Back Safe And Unharmed If Possible”.]] With news spread like wildfire across northeast Ohio organizations such as The Anti bad river movement began organizing volunteers armed with pickets lines outside banks across northeastern Ohio ready if called upon .) EventuallyWooster received word via courier rider that one or more boys had been returned safe and sound without incident but no further details are available…] However little we know today about how things unfolded between these events leading up to our current day understanding we should be grateful for all those efforts made in previous centuries not only because they may have saved lives but also because knowledge slowly builds up over time so errors can be corrected
