Euclid is a small city in Youngstown, Ohio, United States. The population was 26,527 at the 2010 census. Euclid is the home of Brown University and the Euclid-Cuyahoga County Sports and Recreation Complex. It is also the site of one of two current stadiums for the Cleveland Browns football team, which opened in 2002. Euclid was founded by John Fitch on November 1, 1814 as an outgrowth of his land grant from The Ohio Company. When it became part of Cuyahoga County in 1821, it became known as "Fitchburgh". A survey map from 1825 shows that Euclid had a population of about 350 people. By 1830, however, its population had increased to 1,000 people and it had built three churches—the first being a log building dedicated to St. John Baptist on High Street in 1831. The second church was built on Broad Street east of what is now Park Avenue; this building served as the community's first schoolhouse until 1840 when a new brick school was erected on High Street between First and Second Streets (now Park Avenue). In 1838–39 there were several fires that destroyed many homes in town; one such fire caused $1,500 worth of damage to buildings within five blocks of where later streets would be named after firefighters who perished in that fire: Eville (George), Goodfellow (John H.), Lauriault (Jacques), Perron (Edmund) and Purdy (William H.). However these losses did not reflect badly upon Euclid as during this time frame nearly all businesses were connected through marriage or family ties with neighboring villages or towns so no single business could truly be said to have suffered severely due to any single event or factor outside their control other than chance." In 1846–47 James Geddes served as chairman for both houses of the county board; he represented Precinct 2 which included Euclid Township including what are now parts of Strongsville and Mentor cities along with most parts westward extending into Delaware County including Akron and Canton. He reorganized township government under sectionalism while serving on county board; this reorganization included creation of wards which reflected ethnic diversity among residents instead of rural/populous isolation typical at the time evangelical Protestants constituted majority among vote-getters throughout America despite efforts by eastern interests to Build an American Empire" Geddes also helped found Warrensburg Academy which became nationally prominent following its opening in 1850 followed by similar schools operated by Moody Bible Institute Chicago branch located near downtown Harrisonburg Virginia educationally ambitious Mormons seeking an opportunity opened up opportunities unavailable within Mormonism itself making possible economic growth not available within Jacksonian Anabaptist society experiencing rapid social changes following religious revivals during early 1800s blacks becoming skilled laborers & women entering workforce increasing poverty rates across entire Northeast during late 1800s
