In 1892, an air-powered rifle was patented by George Westlake and sold to Cuyahoga County Sheriff James Haggerty. The rifle became known as the "Haggerty Rifle." In 1903, a new gun shop called The Arsenal was founded on State Street by J.C. Higgins. The shop continued to sell handguns until it closed in 1922. Airguns first began being used commercially in America during World War I when patriotic Americans bought guns to shoot at targets near their homes.
Euclid is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,879 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus Metro Area. Euclid was founded in 1814 by George Washington Woodward and is named for Euclid Avenue, which ran through the town. The first settler in Euclid was Coleshaw Ferryman and his family who arrived on October 5, 1814. They built a log cabin on the farm that still stands today near South Main Street and West Walton Boulevard. The local Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1816 and soon after began building churches throughout the area including one in Euclid. As Ohio's capital city grew rapidly during the mid-19th century, so too did Euclid's importance within its community and county. In 1851, voters approved a resolution to rename the town "Euclid" in honor of General George Washington Woodward who had served as Mayor of Cincinnati from 1850-1853 and as an US Representative from Ohio from 1847-1849 before dying at age 73 at Goodyear House east of downtown Cincinnati on January 10th. The re-named town quickly became one of centralOhio's most thriving communities with many businesses established along what is now called Erie Avenue (now Delaware Avenue). Other early civic leaders included Judge John Mathers (1796-1875), postmaster general Elijah Morse (1824-1912) and physician Dr Jacob Steininger (1837-1922). In 1870, when Cleveland Metropolitan Railway adopted a new line running northwest to southeast through Euclid bypassing nearby North Royalton Township vote being taken on whether or not to join forces with Cuyahoga Falls - then part of Cleveland - voting decided against it instead electing members of Cleveland's first railway commissioners who were later charged with creating Cleveland's first electric light company - The Cleveland Electric Light Company - incorporated December 1st 1870 which went public February 11th 1871 becoming known as First National Bank Building located at 613 State Street across from modern day Proctor Square During this time period many great entrepreneurs such as Cyrus McCormick (the founder of McCormick & Co.), John Denton (founder of Denton & Gosden)and Andrew Carnegie started their businesses here including Daniel Drake Wickerstein who helped found Wickerstein Steel Works just northwest of downtown while also serving as president pro tempore for the state senate –all during this time period also witnessing some significant construction projects such as: Corinthian Hall – constructed between 1860s/70s and used by several presidents; Science Hill Cemetery opened in 1865; Masonic Temple built between 1865 & 1870; Hennepin Terminal Railroad Station completed November 9th 1886 becoming Columbus' first passenger train station outside Greater Chicago areas – all while keeping close ties with downtown Toledo’s Merchants Exchange Districtadding another level of commerce to what would become known locally simply as “The Townships” . This period saw many African American families arrive beginning around 1900 when blacks were previously prohibited from owning property within white dominated precincts thereby limiting access to education opportunities for both families And children alike thus paving way for black residents such as Booker T Washington Sr., Alice Paul etcetera to fill key roles within their respective societies/communities during this era . Continued growth led to the erection beginning around 1920 Of Oneonta High School which remains oneof America’s largest high school buildings remaining open today despite numerous additions/modifications over its years including demolition / reconstruction multiple times due To various issues/conditions impacting our community including: desegregation ; economic recession ; suburbanization ; fire bombings ; tornado damage ); yet Despite these challenges& disruptions resultant From structural problems inherent In Our Communitiesmany people have continuedTo call themselves “ E Pluribus Unum” or “One People united under One Flag” constituting A symbolOf UnityThatWe hope To continueTo Hold dear As We journey Forward Together

The first firearms using air pressure to fire projectiles were created in the 18th century by British scientists. By the late 19th century, there had been development of successful repeating firearms using gas guns, which allowed users to shoot multiple rounds per minute. However, airguns remained largely a novelty until the early 20th century when they began to become more widely used in hunting and target shooting competitions.
The first airguns were created in 1892 by a German scientist, Wilhelm Rauch. He designed and built the world’s first airgun, the Rauch gun, which used compressed air to create a loud noise.
Euclid, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Lucas County. The population was 27,844 at the 2010 census. It is located on the central-western edge of Cleveland, just east of Lake Erie, and bordered by the states of Michigan to the north and west and Illinois to the south. Euclid was founded in 1824 as a small village on an island in Muskegon Bay. The village grew rapidly and by 1830 it had split into two townships: Euclid Township to the south, Euclid proper to the north. In 1835, Euclid Township became part of what would become Cleveland while Township 1 (to which Euclid belonged until 1901) remained within Lucas County. The Village of Euclid annexed its neighboring villages - Hollandale to the east in 1845 and Fairview Heights to the west in 1850 - forming a single large city with a population nearing 20000 by 1860. During this time period Cleveland also began rapid construction that resulted in much redevelopment including new hotels, theaters,and other businesses; as well as creation of several parks including Geauga Park (now University Circle), Olmsted Park (later Miamisburg Park), Winton Woods (later Trinity Forest), Slavia Heights (now Shaker Square), Cedar Pointe (later Beachwood Tower), plus dozens more smaller parklets throughout downtown Cleveland alone! The city’s growth continued through both World War I and World War II despite difficult economic times due largely to cheap labor available from workers who came from eastern European countries during those times; along with military production being conducted nearby across Muskegon Avenue/Cleveland Road – one of America’s first expressways – which helped contribute significantly too! However during these tough times some residents did leave for better paying jobs elsewhere while others slowly but surely rebuilt their homes following fire codes that required stricter building standards after devastating fires occurred such as those that destroyed most notably Progressive Temple on West 128th Street exactly fifty years ago this year! By 2000 however almost all indications suggested that things were about to change somewhat when then Mayor Frank Jackson announced his intention “to clean up downtown [Euclid] so it looks like Dante’s Inferno…. We need people living Downtown who want their houses cleaned up so they can see how beautiful it used to be before we started tearing down everything!” What followed over ensuing months saw many changes starting with demolition beginning on May 10th 2001 amidst cries from many citizens angry at what they saw as excessive gentrification which seemed diametrically opposed not only to what had once been called “the heartland” – home not only to many lauded professional athletes such as LeBron James or Michael Jordan but also millions more everyday people who simply wanted access now forbidden back then? However even though much has changed since then there are still some key aspects about early twentieth century Euclidean life that remain incredibly relevant today including an unusually high percentage female presence at all levels within various workforce regardless of profession; important public services being provided without government subsidy or financial assistance whatsoever through municipally funded organizations like CLEAR Neighborhood Services organization aka Central Liaison Committee for Equity Restoration & Development which helps identify blighted areas& provides programming & technical assistance thereto; ground zero for much pre-war housing development continuing uninterruptedly into today via numerous buildings lining Muskegon Ave/Cleveland Road collectively known locally simply as "The Buildings" testamentaling very significant role played therein during both world wars!! And finally most importantly alluding back directly thereto approximately 150 years ago both namesake George Washington Carver Jr./Euclidean educator founder/director Cuyahoga Community College nationally renowned for its agricultural education program serving primarily rural western New York etc etc etc…..such a long history without ever really getting too lost among otherwise dense metropolises?!
