In 1868, John H. Engelwood and four of his friends started the Engelwood Optics Company in Englewood, Ohio. The company became one of the leading optical manufacturers in the United States and produced some of the most advanced scopes on the market at that time. Engelwood's products are still being used today to produce high-quality optics for hunters and shooters. Engelwood was founded on a unique premise: to manufacturing affordable and quality optical equipment for everyday use by people all over America. Today, Engelwood continues to manufacture top-of-the-line optics at its two factories in Englewood and Mansfield, Ohio. With a product line that includes hunting rifles, binoculars, telescopes, microscopes, and more, Engelwood has something for everyone who wants the best possible optic experience. One of Engelwood's biggest accomplishments was producing what is now considered to be one of the greatest hunting scopes ever made: The Mark V rifle scope. This scope was designed specifically for use with bolt actions (such as rifles such as Winchester Model 70s) and featured extreme precision and clarity when sighting in game successfully. It remained popular through several generations of hunter/shooters until it was replaced by more recent models in the 2000s. Another important milestone for Engelwood occurred during World War II when they began producing military grade optics including night vision goggles (NVGs), spotting glasses, artillery sights, etc.—all while remaining productionally independent from other American companies providing essential war supplies like ammunition and vehicles. After the war they continued their success selling quality products both domestically and abroad until finally sold their business to Celestron Incorporated in 1998—the same year that they announced plans to discontinue production of their complete line of optics worldwide due to increasing costs associated with new technology development alone). Englewood is a small town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Englewood residents were called "Niles" because they came from Niles Township, Michigan. On February 12, 1814, General Anthony Wayne's army passed through Englewood on its way to Battle Creek and encamped there for the night; this action marked the beginning of an important military campaign that would lead to Wayne's victory over Grant at Bull Run two years later. In 1837, John Dolan founded the first gristmill in Englewood. In 1840, he built a large home near present day intersection of State Route 21 and US-13 known as "Dolan House". Dolan was one of the founders of Cleveland and served on its first city council and as mayor from 1851 to 1860. He also developed land east of present day Englewood along Nowicki Road that became part of what is now University Circle. In 1870, David Silliman bought some property northeast of town and began selling lots to settlers who wanted a piece of land close to civilization but without having to go through englandtown (now Cuyahoga Heights). The most famous early settler in Englewood was Jabez Bowen who purchased 6 lots on Park Avenue in 1872; he named itBowen Place after his father-in-law Jabez Bowen Sr., who had settled in Cincinnati about 17 years earlier. After purchasing all 6 lots, Bowen donated them all back to India together with $1 million cash for development purposes – thus becoming one of the richest men ever born in Cleveland! In 1892 Jens Rasmussen started brewing beer at his brewery on Superior Street south of town – today's International Bar & Grill (). Rasmussen soon became well-known throughout central Ohio for his delicious amber pilsners made with whole German hops rather than just hop water or adjuncts like many other breweries used then (he still uses whole German hops today). In 1898 Rasmussen built a larger brewery several miles north west near Euclid Avenue which became known as Rasmussen Brewery No. 2 (). That same year Rasmussen married Ida Crownanachkoff (1857-1943), daughter of wealthy American entrepreneur Augustus Crownanachkoff (); their marriage resulted in 4 children: Antonia (1901-1986), Eleanor (1903-1993), Harry Wulfridt Nielsen Rasmussen (1945-) and Birgit Ingelbrecht Rasmussen Kappelle (born November 16th 1957). By 1902 Becker Brewing Company had been established adjacent to Rasmussen Brewery No. 2 which continued producing high quality beers until Prohibition halted brewing operations entirely in 1933 . At this point things changed radically within Englewood when Prohibition began - many businesses closed down including Jens Rasmussen's Beer Store which remained open until 1951 despite being subject to various raids by law enforcement during prohibition (.pdf) . This means that not only did popular local businesses have their windows smashed during prohibition but also very few people even knew about these old businesses anymore! Throughout prohibition many families decided it wasn't worth going through ghettos or risking booty confiscation like during World War II where entire neighborhoods were lost due to looters epidemic.. Instead they opted for a more traditional lifestylestyle living apart from law enforcement while still enjoying benefits such as Social Security Disability insurance etc... Many older residents say that they miss those days when everything ran smoothly thanks largely to Bearden Liquor store owner/manager Carl Haughey who always went out OF HIS WAY TO HELP HIS STORES MEMBERS WHEN THE LAW ENFORCEMENT ARRIVED ON THEIR STREETS! However after Haughey passed away recently his store’s windows were smashed last week again making things difficult for old timers like us trying TO enjoy our Memories ..

During this time, it became one of America's most diverse cities with a large African American population. In recent years, Englewood has seen growth as a bedroom community for Columbus and as an attraction for tourists visiting downtown Cincinnati and other attractions in central Ohio. However, some residents continue to call for more diversity in their local government than what exists today.

The town was named in honor of George Washington and it is believed he was the first European to visit the area. The town began trading with other villages in Northwest Ohio as early as 1792. In 1812,Englewood received its charter from the Northwest Territory government and soon became an important regional center. By 1830, both Englewood and Parma had become large enough that they formed their own governments. In 1836, Englewood became part of the newly created city of Cleveland and has continued to grow ever since. Today, Englewood is home to over 20K residents and is one of the most diverse cities in Northeast Ohio.
