Englewood is a small town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first Englewood settlers arrived in 1796, and the community was named for John Engle (1753-1828), a commissioner from Pennsylvania who bought land in what is now Englewood Township. In 1819, George W. Stephenson built the Erie Canal through this township and founded West Chester, Pennsylvania as an industrial center around that canal. In 1825, Stephenson donated land to form what is now Englewood Township. In 1827, when Ohio became a state, it added Union Township to Hamilton County; however, Union Township did not become part of Englewood until after Ohio's admission into the United States as a state in 1845. The township was laid out according to its current borders by David Siegel during his tenure as supervisor of deeds for Hamilton County in 1858-59. The first courthouse inEnglewood was built on High Street in 1865 by Averell Harriman and renamed Greenfield courthouse two years later because of nearby Greenfield Village; it burned down on October 21st 1886 while being used as office space for county officials. During World War II many patriotic Americans came toEnglewood to work at companies like Ford Motor Company or other war-related businesses; however most of these employees left once hostilities stopped and they returned home before too long In 1948 the city of Columbus took over responsibility for all public services within Harrison Township including those provided by Greenfield Village so that residents living within those boundaries could no longer expect those services although they remain available to residents on a case-by-case basis . Following annexation by Columbus some people living within Union Township began requesting separation from their new home due to concerns about increased taxes and less control over their lives; though such separations ultimately did not happen . Englewood is a city in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,827 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Hamilton County. It lies on the border of Cincinnati and Dayton. The first Englewood settlers were farmers who arrived in 1795. The township was organized on March 15, 1800 and named for John Englewood, a lawyer and member of the Harrisonburg Company. By 1810, some 20 families had settled in what is now Englewood Heights. In 1814, General James Ketchum took control of the Ohio Territory from William Henry Harrison and made it his new headquarters at Chillicothe south of Dayton. He ordered all citizens to remove from their homes east of the Scioto River before he gave them permission to build stores there. This caused a great exodus westward; by 1830, only 5% of those living in Englewood remained east of the river. In 1828–29, when Colonel Nicholas Hennepin attempted to establish a wagon road between Cincinnati and Cleveland via this area (the first such road), he faced strong opposition from local residents because they saw it as an invasion into their backyard; nonetheless he built his road and named it after Hennepin's friend David Wilmot (David Wilmot Road). At that time there were no railroads connecting Cincinnati or Dayton so goods had to be brought by wagons or carts which made travel very difficult and slow; this contributed much to the Panic of 1837 which led to widespread unemployment throughout much of America The City Beautiful Act passed by Congress in 1905 called for plans for a new downtown district with grandiose architecture including an " opera house [that] would dwarf any other structure in town", but none ever materialized due to lack of funding or interest During World War II many people leftEnglewood for Workforce Training Centers located elsewhere because they could not get jobs during peacetime . Some people returned after war ended but many others never moved back . Today most people still live within walking distance from home

In 1837, the townsite of Hubbard was annexed to Englewood and it remained a separate municipality until 1959. In 1978, the township formed a union with Parkersburg to form Parkersburg-Englewood Township.
