In 1892, Nicholas Wagoner started renting out handguns for shooting practice within his business called “The Rifleman’s Shop” located on Main Street inEnglewood. This business continued until around 1912 when it burned down due to a fire caused by idiot customers who left their firearms unsecured outside during the heat of summer. The business finally closed its doors for good after this event happened. In 1925, Johnnie Walker started renting out handguns for target practice within his store called “Johnnie Walker Armory” located on Ridge Road near North Manchester High School inEnglewood Township (now part of Mentor). Mr. Walker also furnished personnel with handguns for use while stationed at Fort Knox during World War II as part of the American armed forces (along with other businesses such as Ford Motors). After World War II ended, Mr.Walker reopened his store under new management full-time and continues to operate it currently today as one of America's oldest handgun stores remaining open continuously since 1925!

The community of Englewood grew rapidly due to its location along the Canandaigua River and connection to Lake Erie by way of the river's navigation route. In 1868, citizens of neighboring Mayfield Heights petitioned for incorporation as a separate town because their needs were not met by Englewood – which then consisted only of farmers and mechanics. The request was granted and Mayfield Heights became an independent municipality four years later on December 15, 1870. During World War II, local businesses greatly assisted in support of military efforts by manufacturing munitions or providing other essential services such as food storage and transportationATION assistance during wartime shortages caused by American Europe's war with Nazi Germany (1939-1945). One significant local business owner during this time was Hap Arnold who operated Arnold's Laundry & Dry Cleaning throughout most of the war; his company supplied uniforms, laundry supplies and more than $2 million worth of goods to Allied forces combatants in Europe alone! Englewood is an unincorporated community in the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. It lies at the extreme northern edge of the city of Cleveland and is northeast of the University Circle neighborhood. The population was 2,849 at the 2000 census. The town site was surveyed by John Engle in 1811 and named after his brother-in-law, George Rogers Clark. By 1814, Englewood had a hotel and ferry service to Cleveland proper. In 1825, John Engle donated land to build a school and church in what is now downtown Englewood. The first school building was completed in 1827 and served as the town's only building until 1850 when a new frame schoolhouse was built on Euclid Avenue adjacent to current day First Baptist Church. In 1830s Factor Jameson founded one of Cleveland's earliest breweries which later became known as Jameson & Son Brewing Company Ltd., also located in downtown Cleveland. In 1874, Alfred Sennett organized several businesses into Sennett Brewery Inc., including Sennett Glass Workshops Inc., which became world renown for their glass products such as window frames, vases and china cups; it continued operations until 1972. In 1898 local Solon native Drury Hargrave established Oneida Hospital (now University Hospitals Starkland) in downtown Cleveland with 50 beds; it remains one of Ohio's largest healthcare providers today with over 1 million patients treated annually inside its five campuses across Greater Cleveland area On July 4th 1907 - just three years after President William McKinley had been assassinated - citizens of Englewood staged a public demonstration against prohibitionism that quickly grew into an all-out civil insurrection against Prohibition authorities led by Mayor Abramson In 1933, during Franklin D Roosevelt's third term as president, he announced plans to "urge Congress to pass legislation providing for compulsory liquor sales" with specific goals being "…to reduce consumption among individuals who are high contributors to Democratic Party coffers" This announcement provoked an uproar from many Americans who felt economically interlocked with alcohol industries through social clubs and other means
In 1812, Englewood was one of the first settlements in what is now Cleveland. The town was laid out by commissioners from various localities and became a part of the Northwest Territory under the United States Constitution in 1813. In 1830, Cleveland was incorporated as a city and Englewood became its first village.
