The Englewood Gun Lock Company was founded in 1892 by three men who were inspired to create a gun lock after watching the success of the locks created by Daniel Boone and his company. The company quickly became successful and began manufacturing its own guns and locking devices. In 1916, the company moved to its current location in Englewood, Ohio. Englewood is a small town in the state of Ohio, located in the southern part of the state. The population was 2,471 at the 2010 census. The name comes from English meaning "a wood near Englewood." The area now known as Englewood grew up around a bend on the Scioto River where people gathered for fishing and hunting trips. By 1800, there were about 100 residents in what is now Englewood. In 1814, Colonel John Todd's brigade arrived in pursuit of General Washington's army and encountered some Indian fighters accompanying General Shawnee Chief Tecumseh. One man killed two Indians with his knife and then ran away to tell his fellow villagers what he had seen. This story became an early legend about Englewood, which has been perpetuated by local residents ever since. In 1824, when Cleveland was founded, Englewood became one of its first townships. Many pioneers who lived here during that time left their lasting memories behind through their descendants who still live in the community today. Among these pioneer families were those from Delaware County (now Geauga County), including Levi Richardson and his brother Amos Richardson; George Stephenson and family; Myron Bowers; James Cooksey; Elijah Woodard; John Wesley Powell; and Horace Mann. The first school in Englewood was built on the site of today's playground in 1868-69 by Mrs. Gadsden Smith with help from her daughter Martha Gadsden Smith Barney (1809-95). In 1893-94, school Superintendent Jno Ayer added a second floor to his home - this house remains standing to this day as part of the current school complex known as Chapman Hall Annex/John Ayer School District Campus via donation from Mrs.] Lois Weiland Haggerty (1901-93). After World War II most residents left for good because of economic reasons such as mechanization or changes within government policies related to post-war reconstruction efforts throughout Ohio However a few individuals have kept alive traditions like baseball playing at Chapman Hall which began back when Rev. C W Shively officiated at games there beginning in 1923 until 1954 inclusive also revival meetings are held there each month once again hosted by Rev Dr Gary Denson currently Pastor

Englewood is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located about 15 miles northwest of Cleveland. The population was 914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Englewood was founded in 1824, and became a town on November 3, 1836. On March 19, 1907, it merged with the neighboring town of Highland to form the new city of Englewood Heights. Connections between both towns were cut off by an industrial area that had developed in those years around Uniontownship No. 5 just east of Englewood and on what is now Interstate 680 north of Highland Park. The firstEnglewood settler was James Beavers who came from Hartford Connecticut in 1824 and platted an area including what is now Englewood on December 12th as part of a land grant to his brother Caleb Beavers from Benjamin Harrison (the 1st president). James' wife Sarah also came over for settlement with their children John and Abigail; all six children eventually moved to present-day Akron when James died in 1830 or 1831 at age 49 years old after a long life as a farmer/ miner/ surveyor./ In 1840 David Dudley granted 600 acres (2 km²) east of current-day Englewood along Clarion Creek to Abraham English which included land still within today's village limits.– In 1850 David Dudley subdivided this property into 10 lots each yielding 30 acres (12 ha) – giving rise to what are today known as Dudley Lots #1 through #10.– In 1860 Nicholas LaFollette donated 640 acres (2 km²), one half mile southeast of present day Englewood along Trumbull Creek to George Cushman which covered much more than just lot #1 as it included portions still within today's village limits.– The donation left English living only on land tracts bordering Trumbull Creek westward from where he lived.– By 1870 Mr. English had raised cattle there for almost 20 years producing fine woolen cloth.- When Mr’s English passed away his son took over but soon discontinued operations due to lack cf capital.- In 1916 Jabez Woods purchased 320 acres (12 km²), corner lot 4b & 4c across river from home & west side road connecting Scranton Rd., rural areas & steel mills then called Steel Valley -northwest corner lot & Platte River View House Plotty Wm’s Ford Rd., parts now owned by Ashtabula County.- On January 16th 1920 Jabez Woods sold 320 acres layout map view map showing unincorporated community name “Englewood Heights” boundaries surveyed Feb 1921 boundary change made effective Mar 1921 with Sylvania Township attached thenceforth situated SouthEastSouthWest on main drag thru village center www engLEWOODHASTSIDEAngles
The area now known as Englewood, Ohio was first settled by the Lenape people in the 17th century. In 1801, Englewood was incorporated as a town in the Northwest Territory of Ohio. The town was named after JesseEngle, who purchased land from the federal government and built an estate there. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location on the edge of a valuable agricultural district and its access to major transportation routes. By 1907, Englewood had over 2,000 residents and was one of the largest towns in Northwest Territory Ohio. However, during World War I, Englewood experienced significant damage due to aerial bombardment by Allied forces. As a result of the war, many residents left town and it declined in population until it regained some popularity in the late 20th century. Today, Englewood is a small community with few commercial properties and is home to a small number of individuals.
