Englewood, Ohio is a small town in the southern part of Ohio. It is located about 20 miles south of Toledo and 25 miles north of Cincinnati. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. The first Englewood settlers were white men from Pennsylvania who arrived around 1800. They laid out a small town on the east side of the Scioto River and named it after their home state,Pennsylvania. The first Englewood school was built in 1812 and operated by local farmers. In 1827, John Ketchum donated land to build a school that would serve both Englewood and neighboring townships. In 1849, James Fenton purchased 4,000 acres (1 km²) of land west of Englewood for $10 per acre ($2,400 at current prices). This area became known as "Fenton's Forest." Fenton developed his new township into an agricultural community with ranges of housing and stores near the center of town. He also founded a college in this community which became known as The University of Michigan in 1876. Theodore Roosevelt visited Englewood in 1906 while he was campaigning for president and declared it "a beautiful place". In 1916, during World War I, General Leonard Wood visited Englewood when he was Commanding Officer for United States Forces in Europe. At that time, he remarked that if there were any problems between American forces or German troops stationed in England they could just go toEnglewood without fear of getting involved because "the people hereabouts are friendly as can be". In 1951-1953 two tornadoes struck the area killing five people and injuring more than 100 others; these events are considered some formative moments leading up to suburbanization within Ohio which has occurred ever since then! Today Engle wood has many businesses including several restaurants/cafes along with churches such as First Baptist Church (founded 1865), Methodist Episcopal Church (1889), Presbyterian Church (1898), Emanuel AME Zion LutheranChurch (1901) among others...most notably PNC bank which opened its doors here 50 years ago on November 11th 1960!!!!!!!

Englewood was founded in 1824 as a small farming community on the southern edge of Cincinnati, Ohio. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s, and by 1840 it had a population of over 1,200. In 1848, Englewood became part of the new city of Cincinnati, and its growth continued into the 1860s. By 1870, Englewood had become one of Cincinnati's most prosperous neighborhoods. However, during the late 1800s and early 1900s, Englewood experienced dramatic economic decline. For example, in 1903-04 Englewood's population declined by 50% due to widespread yellow fever epidemics in central Ohio. In addition to experiencing significant poverty and social unrest during this time period, many residents also lost their jobs due to technological advances that made manufacturing more efficient. As a result of these factors, Englewood's demographics changed significantly after World War I; from being an affluent neighborhood populated by professionals to becoming a working-class community characterized primarily by Poverty Row housing developments. However, despite its struggles throughout its history -particularly during the 1930s when much of its infrastructure was destroyed in the Great Depression -Englewood has ultimately seen positive changes since then. For example, since 2000 several high-rise apartment buildings have been built in downtown Englewood totaling over 200 units – making it one of Cincinnati's most vibrant neighborhoods for apartments/condos! Additionally, numerous businesses have opened up within walking distance of major shopping districts such as Canal Winchester or Overbrook Village – providing increased access to goods and services unavailable any other place in town. Finally, while still characterologically diverse (albeit with some commonalities), recent works suggest that there is potential for both revitalization and togetherness among all sections of the community through various forms of youth programming and engagement opportunities; setting out groundwork for eventual redevelopment should future trends indicate that interest remains high amongst locals nostalgic for what once amounted to “the good old days”
In 1801, Englewood was founded by John Engle and James A. Brown. The village became a town in 1827, and in 1876 it became a city. In 1923, it merged with the neighboring city of Medina to form the now-defunct City of Cleveland.
