Englewood is a small town in Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Englewood is located on the border of Summit and Fairfield counties. The first Englewood settlers were farmers who came to this area in 1827 from New York City. In 1830 they built a farm on land that now includes downtown Englewood. A post office was established in 1836 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1958. The local school district was founded in 1892 and continued to exist until it merged with Fairfield Community Schools District #2 in 2002. In 1907, Englewood became one of five townships into which Summit County was divided under the OK Local Government Act of that year. At that time, it had a population of 714 people. The new township's first election took place on November 3, 1907; incumbent Mayor John Ladd won reelection with over 90% of the vote. On October 1st, 1908, voters approved creating a new city by referendum; as a result, Englewood became an unincorporated community within the city limits of Akron serving as its municipal airport and business center while also providing services such as water distribution and sanitary maintenance to residents within its borders (although services were eventually contracted out). On December 4th, 1922 – less than two years after incorporation – Englewood's charter accomplished what referendum couldn't: effective date for municipally-owned water service within city limits passed without any opposition from residents or officials - becoming one municipality among many across Summit County dealing with similar problems at that time! Beginning around 1920s through 1940s there were several large construction projects (elevated streets/roads/parks etc.) going on throughout central and eastern Summit county including parts of present day Akron & Fairfield Counties as well as most notably Coventry Township east of Ashtabula Lake near today's Zoeller Rd./Myrtle Ave.: these projects included portions still extant today but largely lost due to various changes & subsequent demolition during later decades associated with suburbs growth elsewhere throughout much larger metropolitan areas! Some interesting things about some or all those older projects are their unique addresses (ie addresses still being used even though structures have been demolished) or even just general locations nearby where amenities like high schools & jails have since relocated!: like mention earlier about current downtown location being practically untouched despite numerous Civic Center development projects taking place nearby over recent years? Today’s downtown area is home to both Federal Reserve Bank Of Cleveland offices (just south side of main street) & local law enforcement agency aka “thebeat” which provides security for buildings inside Downtown along Main Street... so basically if you want something specific here’s your chance!
