The Elyria Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892 by a group of men who wanted to provide a place for people to shoot handguns and rifles together. Today, Elyria Rifle and Pistol Club membersrange from all walks of life, including police officers, firefighters, military personnel, hunting enthusiasts, and ordinary citizens. One of the club's main goals is to promote gunmanship as a way oflife in Elyria. Every year they host an event called the "Gun Show" which pits pistols against rifles in a variety of matches. In addition to these events, the club also sponsors several shooting ranges throughout town which allow members to shoot any type of rifle or handgun imaginable. The history of Elyria Rifle and Pistol Club goes back even further than that. It was started as a means to keep folks together who might not otherwise have had access to firearms safely. In 1892 there weren't many places where you could go find someone who knew how to shoot handguns and rifles together effectively; this was especially true for young adults like myself who were only just starting out on their journey into adulthood! The club became an important part of our community and helped make it easier for everyone involved – from civilians trying out new guns for the first time to seasoned shooters getting some practice in before next year's Gun Show!

Elyria is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the seat of Elyria County. The population was estimated to be over 100,000 as of 2018. It is located on the shores of Lake Erie, about 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Cleveland and 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Akron. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Elyria were French traders in 1701 who named it La Salle after François-de- Saint-Lambert, Sieur de La Salle. In 1802, Ohio became a part of the United States and Elyria was placed within Scioto County; however, it remained unincorporated until 1892 when it incorporated as a city under the new county government system). The city's origins date back to 1814 when General Anthony Wayne founded an outpost on the east side of present day downtown which he named "Elyria". In 1821, Cincinnati businessman John Davenport bought land at Beaver Dam Creek for $1 million dollars and erected a gristmill that served as Elyria's first courthouse and town hall; this event helped spur economic development in Elyria and other surrounding communities during its early years. In 1830, Genesee County was formed from Scioto Township due to increasing population growth in central Ohio; however, Dayton took control of Elyria from Genesee County on June 7th, 1834 due to conflict over precinct boundaries with Lima Township. After Dayton's victory over Lima Townshipans at Battle Hennepin Hill on July 6th (the largest battle between Americans and Native Americans), many residents fled into nearby Defiance or Muskegon Heights because they felt their former county would not provide them with the same level of protection should they need to leave during or after the American Civil War (Elyria served as garrison town for Muskegon Heights during the war). The post office at Beaver Dam Creek reopened on October 24th, 1830 after being closed for several months due to construction work associated with Dayton's annexation into Ohio proper.; this event also marked an important milestone for Elyria because it became one of only two cities in Ohio that received mail service from Cincinnati prior to becoming self-governing under its own government system on January 1st1896 (). During WWI veteran soldiers from throughout central Ohio flooded into town seeking food rations following battlefield engagements such as The Battle Of Gettysburg (), thus spurring further development related bothto food production ()and housing ()as well as commercial functions (). Elyria, Ohio is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,475 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cuyahoga County and home to the Elyria–Munroe Falls metropolitan area with a population of 509,853 as of 2015. The townsite was organized on December 1, 1814 by James Ketchum as part of the Northwest Territory. The first settlers were John Sargent and his family who arrived in 1817 from Philadelphia. On November 25, 1824, Elyria became the village of Sidney to honor General Anthony Wayne after he penetrated into that territory and defeated Tecumseh at Battle Creek. On November 14th 1830 it was re-named for General Edmund Dayton (1811-1875) who had been military governor of Tennessee during Andrew Jackson's presidential campaign in 1828 before becoming U.S. Attorney General under Polk following his win in that year's election. In 1840 Dayton donated land for a courthouse and school district which included present day Elyria along with other villages located near him including Uniontown (now Mentor), Amherstburg Heights (now Arlington Heights), Mayfield Heights (now Medina), Hawkeye Village (now Napoleonville), and Parma Heights (later Duncannon). After taking office as Ulysses S Grant's Vice President on January 20th 1865 he moved promptly to Elyria to take up residence there until his death on April 12th 1865 one week shy of four years old at Ford’s Theatre where Lincoln died also that day after a long reign as president effectively ending more than two centuries of white rule over much of North America including Ohio River Valley settlements such as Cleveland & Cincinnati
