In 1907, General Electric purchasedFirst Energy Corporation from George Waring for $1 million dollars and renamed it GEICO until its merger with AmerenUE in 1999. During World War II much of the township was used by GEICO as an assembly line for making plutonium weapons; however most buildings were spared because they were not needed during wartime production while other facilities such as factories continued to operate without interruption during peacetime periods despite being targets of bombing raids or shortages of raw materials due to wartime rationing policies! In 1853, efforts were made to annex all unincorporated areas west of Portsmouth Avenue into the city limits; this failed because no residents wanted to leave their homes behind after experiencing rapid growth within city boundaries since 1800s.
