Eastlake is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Holmes County. The population was 24,712 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Holmes County after Dayton and Zanesville. Eastlake is located on the edge of Lake Erie and is bordered by Lucas County to the south, Butler County to the east, and Medina County to the north. The area that would become Eastlake was first settled by Native Americans in 1795 as part of a larger region known as Muskingum Country. In 1801, John Dutton donated 4 square miles (10 km2) of land to be named Eastlake after his home town of Easton in Pennsylvania. In 1836, United States troops burned down what is now First Baptist Church in Eastlake following a religious clash with US Marines stationed there; this event became known as "The Battle of Easton". In 1870, Jno. Grosvenor donated 7 acres (29 ha) northeast of downtown eastward from Second Street towards Third Street for medical school use only; he did not give any land west of Third Street. This donation led to what is now called Grosvenor Park which includes much of what is todayeastwest side of 3rd street between College Avenue and Harrison Road/Upper Arlington Drive). In 1886–87, Atherton Township organized through an act passed by the General Assembly; within Atherton Township were two villages: Northfield which included present day eastern parts of east downtown and Southfield which extended southeast into central business district; both village boundaries changed numerous times during their existence due to annexation or disestablishment by other townships over time In 1902 when Cleveland Municipal Airport opened its doors for commercial operation, Falcon Heights annexed Northfield; this caused Southfield to become extinct as well since Falcon Heights had no land acquired from it for airport purposes. On July 1st 1912 Toledo submitted plans for annexation into Cleveland but these proposals were turned down owing largely to zoning concerns around commercial development on western portions adjacent to I-80 freeway interchanges looming at that time ; this map provides our understanding about how zoning played out during those early years The growth process brought many new residents flooding into high-traffic areas along I-80 corridor – starting with Falcon Heights annexing Northfield – until eventually creating some serious traffic congestion issues nears busy airports such as Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Lorain–Elyria International Airport – despite efforts made by local officials including then Mayor Teresa Kucinich and City Administrator Rich Weiner Due largelytozoning concerns surrounding commercial development going on near thenI-80 Interchange & also because people were coming mainlyfrom neighbouring suburbs & cities insteadof rural areas—Traffic Congestion began becoming major issue near airports soon after they opened up

Eastlake is a small town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,819 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The community was founded in 1824 by pioneers from Delaware and New York City. The first settlers were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1824 and built a log cabin on the east side of the creek which flows through Eastlake into Lake Erie. They soon left for other settlements in what is now northeastern Ohio because of its fertile soil and available water resources. In 1827, an Act of Congress designated Eastlake as the "seat of government" for Cuyahoga County because it had been chosen as a site for a new courthouse following the death of Judge James K. Caldwell in 1825. In 1830, Samuel Morse established his electric telegraph line from Cleveland to Akron using land donated by John Prentice Young; Eastlake became one of the first towns along that route. In 1836, Michael Angelo Eaton purchased 3,000 acres (12 km²) north of Eastlake where he would build an agricultural center that would become one of America's leading food production operations. Eaton's enterprise led to important changes in eastern Ohio society and economy during the 19th century – including social Darwinism and mass immigration which contributed to growth in suburban Detroit during that time period
In 1814, the area now known as Eastlake was part of the Northwest Territory. The territory was created from parts of Ohio and Indiana. In 1826, the Northwest Territory became Michigan Territory. In 1840, Michigan Territory was divided into three parts: Upper Michigan, Lower Michigan, and the remainder became Northwestern Ohio. On January 1, 1846, Northwestern Ohio became part of Indiana.
