Eastlake, Ohio is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The name "Eastlake" comes from the Ohiopyle River and its tributaries which flow through the town. The Ohiopyle was named for a Shawnee chief who had married one of the daughters of a white trader in 1795. The traders called these streams "the Eastks." In 1814, when General James Kieft divided Stark County into two parts, he included Eastlake in the new portion of Stark County that bore his name. In 1815, John Fenton built a mill on Mill Creek which still stands and produces flour and other products today. Fenton became one of the largest landowners in town and donated land to build churches, schools and other public buildings. He also built an iron furnace on his property for manufacturing steel rods and pipes. In 1825, he erected what is now known as Independence Hall (now home to Eastern Market). In 1830s Eastlake also became home to one of America's first black families when Elijah Muhammad moved from Cincinnati to live with his father-in-law bin Laden in what is now Eastlake after converting to Islam while living in Cincinnati. His wife Mina eventually took their children too – four boys and two girls – but all remain descendants of Elijah Muhammad’s original family tree (see below). When Prohibition began in 1919alcoholic beverages were allowed only within state lines so Eastlake's first grocery store opened up just south of Main Street on Cedar Drive near present day Smith Road serving about 20 customers per hour during prohibition days; it closed around 1920 due to price gouging by liquor dealers looking for business during prohibition times When World War II started hostilities erupted over German submarines off US coasts some residents decided they would rather have nothing to do with war than support Germany even though their homes lay within sight or soundof those submarines; many refused service because they could have easily acquired food or supplies abroad anyway Most residents followed military orders notto raise arms against Axis powers regardless; however some did resist arrest or surrendered when opportunity offered However 3 men were tried & convicted before US Supreme Court & received life sentences after being found guilty beyond reasonable doubt based upon circumstantial evidence only 2 men out of 400 thousand Americans directly impacted by Pearl Harbor were members of this smalltown community 3 miles outside Honolulu Hawaii

Eastlake is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, and it is the county seat for Lake County. It was founded in 1814 by immigrants from Hungary and has been the cultural and economic center of northwest Ohio since its establishment. The town of Eastlake was platted on May 25, 1814 by two brothers named Nicholas Eastlake and George Eastlake, who also founded Defiance Township to the south. The city officially became a part of Cleveland on February 14, 1896 when it annexed Defiance Township to form a new city government. In 1906, Eastlake approved an ordinance creating a racially segregated public housing project called "The Village." The project served as one of many experiments in social engineering undertaken by Mayor John McMillan during his first term in office; other projects included establishing requirements for voter turnout before elections and increasing regulation over business activity within downtown areas. In 1922–23, McMillan led an unsuccessful campaign to repeal prohibition throughout most of Northeast Ohio through referendum campaigns; he instead promised stricter regulation which would later come into effect under his successor James Chadwick Martin On November 3rd 1920 eastern European refugees who had landed at Pier 9 near Cleveland were welcomed with open arms by locals who shouted "HERE ARE OUR PEOPLE!" A group composed mostly of men took up arms against local law enforcement after disembarking their boats amid insults from sailors ashore about being "fools" or "races". After more than three hours police arrived with tear gas to disperse them without loss of life but several hundred men remained uncooperative until reinforcements arrived; they disbanded following nightfall while some women/children continued walking towards home along Euclid Avenue Thereafter references to "the Refugee Gang" generally disappeared from local media until 1969 when footage emerged documenting unrest among neighborhood teenagers sparked whatbecame known as The Battle Of Euclid Avenue which ended with no injuries reported
Eastlake was founded by the Eastlake Company in 1824 as a town on the Scioto River. The company built a sawmill, store, and home here. In 1835, Eastlake became a village. In 1865, it became an incorporated town. In 1898, Eastlake annexed the neighboring community of Northfield.
