In 1881, the city of Cleveland annexed Eastlake and gun manufacturing in the town ceased operation. A later addition to this farm came about when Hennepin bought some property from John Mellencamp near present day eastlake and began growing corn and peas there; his fields are still visible today next to Interstate 71 just outside town limits. Ida Blythe became Mrs. Cleveland (1893 – 1911), widow of Congressman Nicholas Blythe III (1863 – 1953). She led civic organizations such as being an early leader in beautifying Union Station Square with beautiful Tiffany glass lamps and her husbands help with many projects such as creating streetlights around town square throughout much of Cleveland's early years Ida lived close enough to see all these good examples while living elsewhere so she served as role model for others also living their lives closer toGETHER we can look back on her life experiences and learn something not only about our own but also about how society can work better if everyone participates

It has been home to many prominent people including Representative John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), Judge John Mackintosh, and Dr. James Buchanan Eastlake. In 2003, Eastlake became one of thirteen locations across America chosen as the hometown for Barack Obama. The town had its start when George Eastlake and his wife Hannah moved from their home in Perrysburg, Ohio to what is now Eastlake in 1811 because they were determined to create a small community that would be supportive of education and opportunity for all residents. The towns first school was built on the site of today's Community Center which served students until1831 when a new school was built adjacent to the old courthouse which still stands today. Over time, other businesses have come and gone but the grocery store remains an important part of town life which opened its doors on Main Street in 1911. The store continued to serve customers until it closed in 2002 due to lack of business activity but it is currently being used as a library building. In 1933, President Franklin D Roosevelt visited Eastlake while he was traveling through central Ohio and noted that it seemed like "a picturesque little place" with "a fine spirit". He praised local citizens for their commitment to education, their willingness to work hard, and their dedication towards taking care of their families during tough times. When he left town he said that "Eastlake has shown itself one step ahead" throughout difficult times like World War II when many locals took up arms against Nazi Germany. After President Franklin D Roosevelt's visit there emerged plans for housing development around downtown however these plans were never realized because economic conditions changed after 9/11 created unprecedented demand for housing within central Ohio . After years of planning and discussion various homes were finally built near downtown eastlane over the last few years culminating with the opening of Stroud Commons neighborhood just west of downtown this past year giving everyone ineastLake access to quality housing without havingto leave their neighborhoods! Eastlake is a city in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. The population was 30,204 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Eastlake was James Ellison and his family who arrived on a boat from Scotland in 1806. They built their home on the east bank of the Cuyahoga River where they would live until moved to their present location in 1827. In 1836, John Prentice founded the town of Delaware and named it after his ancestor Thomas Pennoyer who had settled in what is now Delaware Township in 1792. In 1868, Eastlake became part of the newly created Cleveland–Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Area when Akron and Canton were merged into one city. In 1898, Eastlake's railroad station was opened by the Cincinnati & Toledo Railroad as part of its efforts to become an important transportation center within the new metropolitan area. On November 10, 1907, voters approved a charter for Eastlake High School which would open for instruction on October 1st that year. On December 12th 1907 with Classes starting up there were only 39 students attending school due to rainouts from other schools surrounding town boundaries; however by January 1st 1908 all programs were back up and running with 164 students attendance! The school has since grown to over 4500 students and continues to serve as one of Lorain County’s top public education institutions today!
