Eastlake, Ohio is a small town in the southwestern part of the United States. It is located about 25 miles east of Cleveland on I-71. The population was 6,581 at the 2010 census. Eastlake is known for its agricultural products, such as apples and grapes, and for its Fern Festival which takes place in late September or early October. The village has a post office (1905), library (1899), school district (1963), and two churches: First Baptist Church (founded 1868) and Congregational Methodist Church (founded 1892). The community first sprang up around a log cabin that was built by Ebenezer Eastlake in 1827. He owned land adjacent to what is now Eastlake Village. In 1863, when the present village was founded, Ebenezers son John Fenton bought some land from Ebenezer's grandson Amos Kendall to establish it as a town. The first settler in Eastlake was Elihu Morse who arrived in 1847. Morse had been born in Boston and moved to Canada with his parents when he was five years old; he later served as mayor of Toronto before moving to America to join his family in 1850. He settled on part of what is now Elmwood Avenue near where the village sits today. In 1865, when East Lake became a town, it included only those areas within 10 miles of its eastern border that had contributed members to its board of trustees; all other parts of the township were unincorporated territory until 1921. As townships grew larger over time they began annexing smaller portions of neighboring townships; this process continued until 1961 when all but one township – Amherst Township – were annexed into East Lake proper. Like many other communities during the turn-of-the-century period,EastLake suffered through an economic slump caused by farming being replaced by manufacturing throughout much of North America during World War I and II; however, during peacetime things returned to normal with heavy investment in education and housing due to increasing affluence throughout most Western nations following World War II. Additionally, agriculture has resumed as a major source of income for many residents since suburban development expanded into most rural areas following the end of World War II without replacement jobs available outside those industries’ borders

The settlement of Eastlake was founded in 1800 by George Eastlake and his family. In 1825, the town was organized as a village under the name of Eastlake Heights. On July 4, 1881, it became a city when part of Cleveland. The city changed its name to Eastlake on March 17, 1984 after being chosen as one of six finalists for the title "America's Best City" by The Economist Intelligence Unit. Eastlake is located at (41.544667,-87.975556). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,759 people, 2,834 households, and 1,711 families residing in the city limits.[3] As of the census[4] of 2010*, there were 3,816 people living in east lake and 2% who lived outside these limits over 45 years old
Eastlake is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio. It was founded in 1796 by naturalized British colonists, and has been a rural community for most of its history. The population was 27,536 at the 2010 census. Eastlake is located on the eastern edge of Cleveland–Akron metropolitan area, across the Cuyahoga River from downtown Cleveland. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Eastlake occurred when Captain John Stephens and his crew discovered land on September 12, 1796, while exploring the Great Lakes region for new trade opportunities. They named their discovery "Eastlake" after their home town of London (now part of Liverpool). The first settler in what is now Eastlake was George Rogers Clark who came overland from Kentucky with his family around 1800. He built a log cabin on what is now State Road 54 near where it meets First Lake Drive today; this location served as Clark's home until 1812 when he moved to a more permanent location about two miles east along First Lake Drive and built a house there which still stands today as part of Evelyn & Newton’s Department Store complex. In 1802, James Ketchum purchased tiering rights to land adjacent to present-day First Lake Drive from George Rogers Clark and started developing it into an agricultural township called Ketchum Township; however, little development took place because no water transportation existed between Ketchum Township and the larger cities then within Cleveland County or anywhere else on the Great Lakes region at that time! In 1824, John Wesley Smith arrived in central Ohio from Maryland with his family and erected a log cabin about one mile west of present-day State Road 54 near where it meetsFirstLakeDrive today; this site became known as "Wesley's Camp". A few years later he developed additional acreage north of present day FirstLakeDrve., installed sawmills and began harvesting lumber which he transported downriver to build homes back then! By 1830s much had changed though: Oliver Hazard Perry had laid out streetsurance grid for all townships within Cleveland County based upon acreage so that each family could purchase insurance against loss caused by floods; also large vaults were being constructed under auspices of building codes soon becoming standard throughout America! In 1840 Augustus Kelley bought 124 acres south ofpresent day FirstLakeDrive from Oliver Hazard Perry for $100 peracre plus freight charges resulting in creation ofGleason & Kelley Farmstead which still stands today next door to Akron Children’s Hospital just off I-271/State Rd 54) About 1850 Alfred Stonestreet acquired another 97 acres south-eastofpresent dayFirstLakeDrivefromAlfredStonestreet& Co.(later renamedEaton Stonestreet Farms)whichstillstandstodaynextdoortoAkronChildren’sHospitaljustoffI-271/State Rd 54).
