In 1902, Eastlake, Ohio was the first city in the United States to pass a law regulating airguns. The ordinance prohibited the sale of airguns to people under 15 years of age and required that all airguns be registered with the city.
Eastlake, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Summit County. The population was 61,645 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was laid out in 1824 by surveyor General James Eastlake as part of a larger land grant to John Marshall. Eastlake named it for himself and adjacent towns (Easton, Mayfield Heights, Uniontown) also named after him including Westlake, Northlake and Southlake. In 1826 the village of Easton was established on land east of present-day Eastlake while still part of Summit County; this village became an independent municipality in 1907. The villages merged into the city in 1964 when they were combined into one entity under the name "East Lake". In 1830s settlers began arriving from Connecticut who had founded Springfield Township on the west side of Lake Erie about south-west of Cleveland. By 1840 most residents living in what is now eastern Summit County had left for other parts of Ohio or Indiana because there were no good agricultural lands available hereabouts either to grow corn or wheat according to local historian Edwin Waymouth Jr.. In 1841 James Eastlake donated 4 square miles (10 km²) bordering present-day Akron to becomethe first township with a schoolhouse and 5 other buildings which included 1 store, 3 shops, 2 blacksmiths and 1 doctor serving 746 inhabitants within its limits; these early township services continued until 1959 when Akron annexed muchlarger neighboring areas making up today's eastern Summit County government services area known as "east lake". In 1847 German immigrants George Weigel and Friedrich Bieber started moving westward from their home state Saxony along both banks of Cuyahoga River using wagons drawn by oxen pulled by men over logs that lay athwart their path through Palestine Township on the north side then across Overbrook Township on the south side joining what would become Newark Park just before reaching Carnegie Hall – all within Indian Territorycontrolled by United States during that time period due to various treaties signed between Great Britain and America following American independence including cession of Detroit & Michigan as well as Treaty Of Greenville ending warfare between America & Native Americans near modern day Cleveland & Canton ohio). They arrived at what is now Arlington Heights just east off I-77 exit 25A prior to reaching Trumbull County where they began hiring out Germans working on farms thereabouts as construction workers primarily but soon purchased landowning themselves near today's Holmesburg neighborhood in Garfield Heightswest northeast corner lot formerly occupied by Eastern View School District
The airgun has a long and varied history, spanning centuries of development. The first true airguns were created in the early 1800s by Master Gunsmiths in Germany, using primitive techniques and materials. However, the first firearms to use gunpowder were developed in England in 1493 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. These early firearms used a “piston-action” design, which required the user to cock the gun by depressing a small metal rod inside the barrel. This proved difficult and slow to operate, leading to the development of more efficient designs that used an breech-loading system (see Breechloader). During World War I, several countries began manufacturing airguns as part of their military arsenals. In Great Britain, this was done through license production with various companies such as Browning & Co., Savage Arms Company, and BSA Firearms Limited. In France it was done with Lebel & Mauser components company under licence from Colt guns factory. Belgium also produced some airguns during World War I under license from Dutch arms manufacturer Heineken. After World War I ended, many manufacturers resumed production of airguns throughout Europe; however, most efforts ceased until about 1935 when two new companies – Haganah Aircraft Industries Ltd., Ltd., and Browning Arms Corporation – began producing Repeater Airguns models specifically for hunting deer and other large game animals in North America. It was not until after these companies merged that true automatic repeaters became available on the market (see Automatic Rifle). As automatic repeaters became more common over time they were eventually replaced by gas pistols as primary weapons for hunting big game animals due to their greater firepower potential compared to manual repeaters.

Eastlake is located on the Scioto River, east of Cleveland. The community was named for George Eastlake, an early resident and store owner who donated land to the town. In 1813, Eastlake's first school opened its doors to students from nearby Grays Mill. The town grew rapidly after becoming an agricultural center with a large number of farms and mills. In 1865, Eastlake erected its first courthouse and jail. By 1900, Eastlake had become one of the most important commercial centers in Northwest Ohio. Over that century, it developed into a farming society with many notable families including those who own or operate businesses today such as Apple Inc., Nike Inc., and Amway Corporation (now known as Unilever). During World War II, many local businesses helped support military endeavors throughout the region; among them were cattle drives that transported goods to various battlefields across America. In 1957, when Iger Chevrolet began production in Eastlake,[1] it was one of only two American companies manufacturing Chevrolets outside of Detroit (the other being Ford Motor Company). The economic decline experienced during the late 20th century led to dramatic reductions in workforce sizes at many local businesses;[2] by 2009, only four percent of all jobs composed less than five employees.[3] However, due to strong online presence and continued growth since then,[4], many local businesses have regained some level of importance over recent years – particularly in sectors such as retail trade and health care services – while still employing significant numbers of people overall.
