Dublin, Ohio is a small city located in the western portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 7,829 at the 2010 census and has grown to 11,041 since the 2000 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area and is bordered by Cincinnati to the north, Dayton to the east, Lebanon to the south andwest and Piqua to the northwest. At first there were only three men on board Cook's ship - himself (the captain), Lieutenant John Young (of HMS Discovery) and Timothy Pickering (of HM Canadian Forces vessels HMAS Australia and HMAS Victoria). They named their new town after George Washington's capital - Philadelphia but eventually changed it back to London after some residents objected because they thought it sounded too British sounding. In 1801, following Ohio's admission into Confederation as a United States state, Dublin became one of six original counties in Ohio when it was created from portions of Hamilton County including what are now parts of Cleveland and Akron. When Henderson County was formed within Hamilton County in 1907 – which also included much of today's Dublin – Henderson County had just 1 vote against Admission To Confederation! In 1914–15 violence erupted between Irish-Americans living west side residential areas like West Side Village on 2nd Avenue Northwest near Miami University where many people worked manufacturing jobs during that period while other Irish-Americans lived east side industrial areas such as Mahoning Valley where they farmed or raised livestock until prohibition began; this led directly to rioting over control over alcohol distribution within mostly Protestant working class neighborhoods across urban America during this time period known as "The Great American Beer Raid".
