Dover, Ohio is a small town located in the Beaver County area of western Ohio. It was founded in 1827 by George Washington Wilkinson and became a post office in 1836. The population of Dover peaked at more than 10,000 in 1920 but has shrunk toapproximately 5,000 since then. In 1907, the Dover Rifle Club was formed and soon became an important factor in the development of American rifle shooting. Today, the club sponsors annual rifle matches and shoots at three different ranges - one on the banks of the Scioto River, one on a range owned by local farmers, and one near downtown which is used for obedience trials. The club also manufactures rifles and shotguns.

He had many soldiers encamp here and named it after his home state: Delaware County (now Muskingum County). The first store in Dover was established by Nathan Bedford Forrest in 1813-14. In 1830, John Prentice built a log cabin near present day Main Street and commercial buildings began to be erected around that time." Dover experienced its most significant development when 3 brothers – Isaac Newton Wright, Andrew Jackson Wright, and James Dunham – founded what became known as Dayton Manufacturing Company in 1833. This company manufactured goods such as saddles and wagon wheels but also created other products such as chairs and lamps. After years of growth and success, Dayton Manufacturing Company went bankrupt in 1849; however, it reopened two years later under new management with same name but different ownership. In 1865–66 an act was passed which renamed Dover after Warren Hastings' victory over Cornwallis at White Plains Junction – another important event in American history that helped promote manufacturing in America. As a result of this renameing process, Dayton Manufacturing Company lost some key members including president Andrew Jackson Wright who moved away to start his own company while others stayed on to help revive their old employerage By 1870 there were over 100 businesses operating out of Dover with 1125 residents living there permanently or temporarily." Doylestown Township added land adjacent to Dover between 1840-1860 making it one largest township west of Appalachia when included within Ohio limits; however until 1830s only people from Newark Township lived there due to lack of access to water resources necessary for farming

It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The City of Dover was founded on December 12, 1801 by Captain John Cuyler as a small trading post on the Delaware River adjacent to what is now downtown Akron. It grew quickly due to its strategic location near two major railroads and its access to products from far away such as textiles, food processing and aluminum manufacturing. In 1824, Captain Cuyler donated land for a public square in downtown Dover where today's State Fairgrounds are located. The square became known as "John Cuyler Square" afterCaptain Cuyler's son who served as Mayor from 1868 until his death in 1876. On July 1, 1907, Dover incorporated as a city and changed its name to "Dover". The First World War brought about several challenges for both residents of Dover and businesses within town limits which led to the establishment of Dearborn Heights Memorial Park in 1919 which remains one of America's largest military memorials today. Later that year real estate developers started buying up all available land within town limits with plans to convert it into an urban park flanked by high-rise buildings that would be home to many large corporations doing business in Greater Cleveland including WILCOX & LYONS Company (now IAC plc) whose headquarters were located at One University Circle until they moved out in 2001 when they bought Exelon Corporation's campus next door). This plan never came to fruition because shortly afterwards commercial property prices went up so much that not only could no company afford to build on top of an already expensive park but also there washs surplus development built on former industrial land - providing yet another layer of pollution and expense for taxpayers while creating little or no economic benefit whatsoever for either party involvedExcept for some new housing developments around University Circle this area has been largely abandoned since then!
