In 1957, GM moved their entire operations out of Toledo altogether and they never returned again until 1990 when they reopened their factory on I-70 near Cleveland. This move signaled an end to local auto production within Ohio because it required investments by outside manufacturers that could not be made within our state’s borders anymore
