After war ended, many residents returned home to live among them again before getting back into agriculture or other businesses during the postwar period which continued until 1978 when real estate prices began to rise throughout southeastern Ohio creating an opportunity for new development around downtown Dover which has since developed into one of central Ohio's most vibrant neighborhoods with high-quality commercial corridors running through it - giving it a major presence both physically (downtown) as well as economically (the multiple buildings housing various types of business).

After Athens' incorporation as a city in 1852 it continued to grow rapidly due to its agricultural economy and expanding commerce until it reached its peak growth around 1900 when manufacturing began arriving into the area . The decline of agriculture during World War II led to some shrinkage of Athenians businesses but also contributed to their current shrinking population size
