Delaware, Ohio is a small town located in the heart of the Great Lakes Region. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It has been home to residents of Delaware for over 350 years. In 1811, George Washington and his cabinet were transferred from New York City to Philadelphia and then to Delaware because of the Whiskey Rebellion. The first settlers in what is now Delaware were farmers and their families who arrived in 1797 from Maryland. By 1814, there were 100 residents living in what is now Delaware Township. In 1833, John Quincy Adams was elected President of the United States and moved his residence from New York City to Philadelphia so he could be closer to Congress and campaign for reelection. When Adams’s term expired on March 4th, 1835, he returned to Delaware where he died five days later on March 11th at age 83 years old. On July 15th of that year, a bill was introduced into Congress entitled “An act for providing for organizing and carrying into effect certain articles of Confederation between the United States of America and Canada” which would establish a Northwest Territory comprising present-day Ohio including parts of Kentucky and Michigan as well as Delaware County (now part of Pennsylvania). The bill failed due to lack support but it did serve as an inspiration for future efforts by president James K. Polk to annex all or portions of Ohio without Congressional approval during his presidency (the Cleveland Doctrine). In 1846, when Ohio became a state within the United States after being ratified via popular vote on November 3rd under President Zachary Taylor, Delaware had 693 inhabitants with a total land area just over 1 square mile: less than one tenth the sizeof today’s Columbus Township in Cuyahoga County (home county) which has a population over 11 thousand! However, much like other frontier towns throughout North America during this time period that experienced rapid growth due largely to new technology such as railroads reaching them from Europe through immigration (and sometimes vice versa), Dover quickly became known as “the Gateway To The West” due not only to its location but also its easy access by wagon road across central Indiana onto main stages heading westward on both Interstate 65 & US 22; plus its hosting role – both politically & economically – during this era when trade routes ran directly across centerPennsylvania (& adjacent states) connections that continue even today! In addition thereto Dover developed significant maritime interests through its ownership or chartering/purchasinghips thereof along both rivers leading southward unto Mexico City & points beyond; while also developing significant agricultural interests through raising corn/beans/, beef cattle& other feed supplies principally within central & southern Brown County bordering northern Marietta Counties– thus becoming one half+ partner/co-producer with surrounding counties thru their joint production efforts! Although some people erroneously believe that smuggling operations took place during this time period while actually consisting mostly of legal border crossers seeking residency / work opportunities within U S borders illegally crossing into neighboring states looking for opportunity rather than contraband; nonetheless these activities occurred very quietly relativeto major events taking place elsewhere in our region!! Overall it can be said that despite many challenges faced by early pioneers living near contemporary day DEVILS LAKECounty – notably lack OF infrastructure suitable FOR farming/town planning/population growth rates typicalduring frontier times especially when compared TO contemporaneous cities such as Cincinnati OR Pittsburgh OR Buffalo – Portsmouth slowly emerged AS THE REAL GATEWAY TO WEST INDIANA !!!

Delaware, Ohio is a small town located in the southern portion of Delaware County, Ohio. The population was 912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1810 by James Ketchum and settlers from Connecticut. In 1826, Delaware granted land to John Cranch for his farmstead called Ketchum Hill. The first school in Delaware opened in 1828 and was operated by Mrs. Beecher from her home on Haddon Hill Road. A new school building was built in 1896 and used until 1961 when it burned down. A new school building was also built in 2006 and is currently used as the Senior High School campus. Delaware became a city in 1951 and has since grown into one of the most significant communities within Dayton proper with over 25,000 residents that are spread throughout five wards - Beavercreek, Franklin Park, Indianola-Muncie Heights, Northwest Side (including Southwest Side), and Sylvania Township - as well as an annexing of parts of Butler Township which makes up West Bloomfield Township (the original township) . The City Council has adopted ordinances setting forth policies for Neighborhood Services Committees which provide coordination among public agencies with respect to issues such as crime prevention; beautification; economic development; social services; fire safety; waste management; engineering considerations for infrastructure projects; zoning regulations affecting land use including housing density limitations . Residential construction activity increased significantly during the 1990s after laws were passed authorizing redevelopment on post-World War II parcels deemed surplus military property . As more homes were constructed on these parcels – some reaching heights above 400 feet [122 m] – fears began to surface about possible adverse environmental effects due to elevated levels of air quality contaminants released from newly paved streets . On February 13, 1792, the General Assembly of the United States passed an act establishing the county of Delaware. The area that would become Delaware County was first settled by Native Americans, who were known as the Lenape. In 1802, a group of settlers named themselves the Hamilton party and began to explore what would become Delaware County. In 1803 they founded the town of Athens on a small stream called Scioto near modern Fort Wayne. After some construction work and rename changes, Athens became one of the most important towns in western Ohio during its time as a stop onthe “Founding Fathers Trail” which connected Cincinnati with Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
