In Defiance, Ohio, holster history began in 1871, when John A. Neuman and his brother-in-law, George J. Healey, opened a store called the Healey Arms Armory. The Neumanns had emigrated from Germany and were among the first immigrants to set foot in Defiance. In 1881, they took on the name of Healey & Neuman and continued to sell handguns and other firearms until 1911. In that year, they merged with George P. Haggerty’s business to form Haggerty & Healey Armory Company. The company operated until 1951 when it was bought by Bendix Corporation and became part of that company’s Pistol Division. Bendix Corporation sold the armory in 1978 to Rheingold Firearms Corporation who kept it running as a shooting range until 1984 when it closed down due to financial woes.
Defiance, Ohio is a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Ohio. It was founded in 1814 by families who left Fort Wayne, Indiana to escape Indian attack. The population of Defiance was only 1,000 when it came under English control in 1795. In 1830, Defiance became part of the heavily visited region known as the "Trail of Tears." When that area was closed off to settlers by Native Americans, many residents chose to move to what is now Akron, Ohio. In 1836, Defiance's first school opened its doors and remained open until 1942. The community's main businesses include a grocery store and post office. There are also several churches and farms in the community. The primary economic activity in Defiance has been agriculture for decades; however, there has been recent growth in manufacturing and services such as plumbing and carpentry. The town was named after General George Washington Carver who played a major role in developing agricultural practices hereabouts during his lifetime. Today much of Carver's land remains within the boundaries of Defiance; including portions of what is now Youngstown State University.

Defiance was a small town in northeastern Ohio, United States during the 1830s. It was located on the Scioto River and its population at the time of its incorporation was less than 100. The town's post office operated from 1835 to 1840. The first settler in Defiance, David Hinton, arrived in 1811 and built a log cabin on the riverbank. In 1834, Hinton and his son-in-law Colonel Sidney Sargent formed a company to purchase land from the Shawnee nation and began construction of what would become downtown Defiance. In 1840, an act of Congress designated Defiance as part of Indian Territory under the supervision of the US Army. In 1851, when Ohio became a state, Defiance became part of Lucas County. Despite this change in scenery, many residents maintained their close ties to their Indian friends and village organizations persisted until after American Indian removal operations ended in 1907. Today there is only one remaining building from early Defiance – courthouse – which is open for tours every day except Mondays because it is used as storage for county offices.
