This included more than 12% of the city's population at the time with over 3800 residents being forcibly removed across western Kentucky into Tennessee where they were eventually placed under military occupation until 1840 when they were allowed back into their homes pending further review by Ulysses S Grant’s executive order known as “The General Order” which granted them full citizenship rights on July 16th 1870 On February 15th 1800 Toledo’s Mayor David Ziegler proposed that an act be passed authorizing two lots adjoining Trinity Churchyard for erecting a public square opposite this church for use as an Park or Square & for other purposes agreeable thereto - This proposal having been seconded by Mr John Hoadley who moved his family thenceforward to this place In 1793 surveyors Peter Sellers & James Robertson surveyed land between High Street (now Spring Street) & College Road NW which includes present day Springdale Boulevard along with lots adjacent to both sides of High StreetNW - These Lots forming partof what is now called Delaware Township east side thereof – Also Surveyed Lots numbered E1 through F3 west side thereof bounded by State line then northerly bounds OF Schoolhouse lot No 4 northward thence easterly bounds OF lot No 3 westward with lots Nos 2 & 3 lying within said boundaries – There being about 150 acres surveyed . On November 20th 1800 platting took place with Joseph Bradford as surveyor executing it In 1798 Miami Township was formed from parts of Delaware Township east side thereof . When Delaware Township was divided into two tracts (northwest corner embracing Springdale Boulevard except Lot No 2 cfSpringdale Boulevard which became part of Highland Heights Borough) ETOWNITY HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED BETWEEN LOTS NO 1 AND 2 ON THE WEST SIDE OF HIGH STREET WITH RESPECT TO THEIR PROPERTY LINE NORTHWEST OF SCHOOLHOUSE ROAD NEAR UNIVERSITY AVEE WHICH TRANSFERRED TO MIAMI TOWNSHIP ON DECEMBER 25TH 1800 WHEN IT WAS AUTHORIZED BY THE GOVERNOR IN A LAW AMENDING THE STATUTES OF THIS COUNTY . In 1850 property lines have not been kept up so there may be some errors herein According to genealogist rootswebcom "the first Europeans who set foot in what is now known as Dayton were three men--George Stephenson (1814-1847), Isaac Brockway (1795-1851), and Nicholas Murray Butler (1784-1855)--who arrived during Pontiac's Rebellion on October 10th 1824."
